It is Mrs. Blue To You

AUTHOR The morning sun had barely risen when Derek arrived at his shipping office. Adjusting his glasses, he settled behind his desk and began typing on his laptop. The office door burst open. Sean walked in carrying two dead bodies over his shoulders as if they weighed nothing. With a loud thud, he dropped them onto the floor. Derek slowly lifted his gaze. "The f**k, Sean?" Sean shrugged. "Oh, this? Monteno sent a message. He shot them himself. Said if you delay his shipment again, he'll kill Annabelle." A dark smirk tugged at Derek's lips. ‘He'd be doing me a favour.’ "Well," Derek said calmly, "delays happen." Sean laughed. "I'm heading back to check on the girls. And I heard you already slept with one of them." Derek let out a dry chuckle. "Interesting. I'm always the topic of discussion." Sean ignored the remark. "You have a meeting at the club at noon. Nothing else scheduled." Derek leaned back in his chair. "Grace should be ready by noon then. She's coming with me." Sean frowned. "She's inexperienced and annoying." "I'm the boss," he said sharply. "Get her ready." Sean raised his hands in surrender. "Fine." Derek rubbed the bridge of his nose before reaching for a small packet of cocaine. He inhaled sharply and exhaled. "Now get out. If you need me, you'll find me at Blue Modelling Company." Sean left without saying another word. ---- DEREK. I walked toward my car. "Blue Modelling Company," I told the driver. He nodded and pulled away. The moment I arrived; employees greeted me nervously. Some smiled. Others trembled. I could smell their fear. Delicious. I walked past Mrs. Jane's office and acknowledged her with a nod. As I approached my office, something caught my attention. Mirabella. She sat behind her desk wearing a black jumpsuit layered over a white long-sleeved shirt. Her blonde hair was tied into a neat ponytail. Professional. Elegant. Dangerously beautiful. For a moment, I forgot where I was. Then a man entered her office carrying a bouquet of red roses. Her boyfriend, no doubt. I watched her stand and kiss him. Something ugly twisted in my chest. Fuck. Why did that bother me? I wasn't her boyfriend. I wasn't anything to her. Yet I hated seeing another man touch her. As if sensing my stare, Mirabella glanced toward me. Our eyes met. Fear flickered across her face before she quickly looked away. Good. She should be afraid. "Boss?" Her voice pulled me back to reality. I looked at her over slowly, from head to toe. This woman would be the death of me. Sometimes I imagined making her Mrs. Blue. The thought was ridiculous. Who could ever love a man like me? A monster. A mafia boss with blood on his hands. "Mira." I opened my office door. "Come in." She followed me inside. I closed the door behind us. "Boyfriends are not allowed at work," I said coldly. "They're distractions." Her shoulders stiffened. "Sorry, sir. It won't happen again." "Good." I sat down and folded my hands. "What brings you here, Mirabella?" She held a folder against her chest. "I wanted to show you the proposal for a new project I-" --- The office door slammed open. Annabelle stormed inside. "There you are!" Her eyes immediately landed on Mirabella. A cruel smile spread across her face. "So, you're the woman trying to seduce my future husband?" Mirabella lowered her gaze. "I'm sorry, ma'am. I was only discussing work." "It is Mrs. Blue to you." The room grew colder. Derek reached for a cigarette and lit it. His expression darkened. "Enough." Annabelle turned toward him. "Derek…" "Do not speak to my employees as if you own them," his voice was calm. That made it even more dangerous. "You are lucky I didn't embarrass you in front of everyone outside." Annabelle crossed her arms. "I thought she was trying to steal you." "It doesn't matter what you thought." Smoke curled from Derek's lips. "Stop interfering in my business." "You'll be my husband one day." A laugh escaped him. Cold and mocking. "Keep dreaming, Annabelle." Her face reddened. "You're impossible." "No. You're loud." For a moment, she looked ready to throw something at him. Instead, she spun around and stormed out of the office, her heels clicking angrily against the floor. The door slammed shut. Derek shook his head. "Spoiled brat." Mirabella remained standing awkwardly. He glanced at the folder in her hands. "Leave the project with me," He said sweetly. She nodded. "I'll review it and give you an answer this evening." "Thank you, sir." She placed the folder on his desk and quietly left. The moment the door closed, and Derek leaned back in his chair. His mind shifted to Grace. The dress had already been arranged. Everything was in place. Still, he had to remind himself of one thing. Grace wasn't special. She wasn't important. She was simply useful. Valuable to his business. Nothing more.
