ZANE I slammed the glass cup down on the table after downing the whiskey that was in it in one go, the burn doing absolutely nothing to soften the rage twisting in my gut. Yeah, I was f*****g pissed. The contract I had fought for months to secure was gone. Just like that. Slipped right out of my hands as if the universe existed solely to spit in my f*****g face. I stared at the documents scattered across my desk, the rejection email open on my laptop, the polite wording annoying me even more as I read it. All the sleepless nights, the calls, and the negotiations were completely wasted. And for what? My pulse snapped, hot and violent. Before I even knew it, I picked up my glass and hurled it against the wall. It shattered, but the satisfying crack did absolutely nothing to calm me.
