CAMILE The car rolled to a smooth stop in front of the quarters, and for a second, I just sat there, fingers still curled around the door handle. I would be lying if I said I didn’t miss Italy or didn’t want to go back there. The breathable atmosphere of it still clung to me. The warmth. The laughter. The way I had felt light, wanted, cared for. The way Arlo and Kael never let me think too much about the people that hurt me, the way they didn't make me feel small or disposable.
