I looked through my binoculars, desperately trying to find Cyrenia in the obstacle course for the Celestial Trials. Myles had tried to get the message to her, but he said their connection was cut off, so he didn’t know if he was successful. By the time I made it to the mountain, Cyrenia and Hana were climbing the cliff together.
When they started to get attacked, it took everything in me to not run to her aid. I knew there was no point. Even if I ran as fast as I could, I wouldn’t make it in time to protect her. I had to trust she could protect herself.
I lost sight of her after they entered the fall forest. I waited anxiously for them to make it to the other side.
My phone rang, and I quickly answered, never taking my eyes off the course.
