She stood in the dark and looked around for a moment, she felt lost, she could still hear the doctor shouting orders to the nurses, hear Hassan’s pleas. She tried to answer, to go to him but she couldn’t find which direction to head. Their voices echoed around her, swallowing her, she closed her eyes and screamed, her hands on her ears trying to block out their voices. Suddenly, everything stopped, like the noise was sucked out of the room, lights swirling on her eyelids made her open her eyes. The room was no longer full of darkness but it was not a room either, it was a bright vast space with no edges or walls, just white.
