A droplet of water fell to my forehead. I felt a searing pain over my cheek, slowly running across the top of my nose, then to my other cheek. It burned, the smell of burned flesh filled my nose, and if I was fully conscious I’d probably be screaming. Everything hurt, I felt so weak…so very weak. I couldn’t remember anything that just happened. Fighting with the witch, a sword against my chest…but what happened after that? Was I dead? Why did everything hurt if I was dead? ‘Grayson, wake up,’ Ren whispered in my mind, but I was pulled back down again, down into the darkness, if only for a moment.
