Alpha Luther's POV
“What came over you, Iria?” I roared at the top of my voice, glaring straight into her eyes.
She whimpered, curling herself to a corner.
Sage Freya told me that Iria attacked Jason in her presence, but she was strong enough to subdue her before she caused any harm.
My nerves were literally burning with fury as I looked at her pathetic self just existing in my room.
I took a deep breath, getting a hold on my rage as I sat on my chair and poured myself a glass of whiskey.
“Are you angry with me because of that Omega?”
My brows furrowed as I turned towards her.
Did I just hear her speak and question my anger?
“Do you realise that I spent so much money buying hom from the auction?”
“Exactly! That's enough reason for you to make him your slave.”
“I'm going to pretend like I didn't hear you say anything.”
I suddenly felt her hand over my shoulder as she wrapped her arms around me.
“I'm sorry. I was only feeling jealous about the way you treated him.”
I pushed her hands away from me. “I need to have my space.”
She stormed out of my room, slamming the door hard behind her.
I took a deep breath, resting my back on the sofa as my eyes were fixed onto the glass right before me.
Did I overreact?
I don't think so.
Letting her get away after making an attempt to kill somebody under my roof would have been cowardice on my side.
I don't even enjoy her company, but she always tries to stay around me.
I'm sure she sees the handwriting on the wall, but she has refused to take it in.
I heard a gentle knock against my door, and then the door was pushed open.
That scent…it's familiar. I can recognise that scent anywhere.
I turned, and I found a large smile on his face.
“Darius!” I jumped to my feet with a smile on my face as I gave him a warm embrace.
Darius is my best friend. A very loyal friend, and he has been nothing but supportive towards me since we've known each other.
“You don't look bad, Luther.”
“You can say that again, man. It's been a really long time.”
“Of course. I've really missed you, Luther.”
I poured him a glass of wine and we had a long discussion, catching up on a lot of things.
“I actually saw my sister on my way to your room. She appeared sad. Is everything fine?”
“Iria's fine. She's just probably sulking on the fact that she messed up.”
His brows furrowed as his curiosity piqued straight into the air. “What did she do?”
“She attacked a boy I've been housing for a while now.”
“Your slaves?”
“No! I bought him off at the auction for a special purpose.”
“A boy? What could be so special about him?” He appeared really puzzled.
“This isn't so much of an important discussion right now, Darius.”
“Iria already told me about the boy anyway.”
“When?”
“She spoke over the phone.”
I smirked. “Let me guess…you're here to tell me to get rid of the boy, just like her.”
“Oh come on. I came here to see you.”
“I just hope you could help me talk some sense into Iria.”
Soon after our discussion, I decided to go and talk with Sage Freya.
She actually sent a maiden to come and tell me that she had something serious to tell me.
I had to stop my conversation with Darius right away and rush to meet her.
“You sent for me.”
She tapped on the space right next to her. “Sit here.”
I took one glance at her plain expression and went ahead to sit down just like she instructed.
I remained quiet, waiting for her to start the conversation at her own pace.
“You need to be very careful, Luther.” She broke the silence, looking straight ahead with her eyes glued to something I couldn't tell.
It was like there was something she was staring at, but I couldn't even see what it was.
“Is there any problem?” I asked softly.
“I'm very sure you know that Iria doesn't enjoy Jason's presence here.”
I exhaled heavily. “Iria is not supposed to be a problem. She won't repeat such a thing again.”
She shook her head gently with a soft smile spread evenly across her entire face.
“There's something coming up, Luther. A danger lurking in the dark.”
I groaned. “Sage Freya, you've told me the same thing again.”
She finally turned towards me, looking straight into my eyes.
“I just have the burning desire to repeat those words again.”
“You said the best thing was for me to purchase Jason. I thought his presence here would change that vision you had.”
“His presence alone is not enough, Luther.”
“What else do you need?”
“This other part doesn't fall under your ability, Luther.”
My bows pulled together in confusion. “I'm really trying so hard to understand what you're trying to say.”
“Jason needs to work more on himself. He needs to grow, and that needs to happen fast.”
“You're supposed to be in charge of that. He should be made to understand that he actually has a task here.”
She smiled. “Slow steps, Luther. We're not supposed to force him to make a decision like that.”
I still don't get her. “You still told me that time is no longer on our side.”
She patted my back softly. “I want you to remain positive. But you also need to be very careful.”
She kept repeating that sentence like my life depended on it.
But she never told me what I should be careful of.
I still don't understand what is going on, and she doesn't want to tell me everything.
Sage Freya has just been telling me that I'll know when the time comes.
Then a thought suddenly struck my head.
I guess meeting Jason is the only thing I can do now.
Maybe he can use his visions to tell me what I need to know.
