Khal, where are you?" Amalisa called from the distance.
"Damn it," Khal cursed.
"Remember, you are my breeder and that's all you'll ever be." He finally let go of me and walked off.
I wheezed, feeding my starved lungs.
[Are you okay?]
"I'm fine, Atlas. Don't worry about me."
[It will all be over soon.]
"I'm counting on that."
The next day, I waited at the stables with my belongings, along with Amalisa and Khal, as we anticipated the arrival of Prince Adonis to commence our journey to the capital of the MoonlitSnow Kingdom, where Hazel Peak is located..
Prince Adonis arrived with Alpha Jax and a strange woman in tow.
"It would take too long to use a carriage for travel. In honor of the Lycan Prince, I hired a high witch to make a portal instead."
"I appreciate your hospitality, Alpha Jax."
"Of course, your highness."
Hiring a witch talented enough to make portals doesn't come cheap. Alpha Jax must have spent a significant amount of the pack's budget to do so.
The witch got to work immediately and in a few minutes, two separate portals were created.
"You two are a different case from us so you'll have to go to the admissions office first, the officer will provide what you need. If there are any problems, mention my name. I already put in the coordinates." Adonis mentioned curtly and stepped into the opposite portal. He was soon followed by Khal.
I and Amalisa stepped into ours and found ourselves in an office-like space.
"How did you two werewolves get in my office?" A woman in formal attire questioned as soon as we emerged from the portal.
"I got accepted into this academy!" Amalisa said excitedly.
"Names." The admissions officer demanded.
"Celeste Frostkin."
"Amalisa Foreskin."
She scanned through a floating scroll of names in seconds. "I don't see your names here."
"You see, we are here on Lycan Prince Adonis's recommendations." Amalisa quickly replied.
"Is that so?" The officer massaged her temple, "These kids just do whatever they f*****g want nowadays."
"Is there a problem?" I asked.
"There is none," The officer confirmed, "I am High Witch Genya, the admissions officer here. Welcome to Hazel Peak Academy."
"Thank you!" I and Amalisa sang in unison.
"You just have to put a drop of your blood on these forms and you'll be registered as a student."
Officer Genya retrieved the forms the moment we were done and passed us two sets of clothing each. "As students of this academy, you're required to wear our uniforms while on campus, and nothing else."
She gestured to her right, saying "You can make use of that closet to change."
"Excuse me Officer Genya, but these are way too big for me," Amalisa complained, sporting a deep frown.
"They're enchanted to adjust to the wearer's size. Now, please change."
We hurriedly changed in the closet, and as promised, the uniforms resized to fit us perfectly.
"You can leave your luggage here, it will be taken care of."
"As freshmen, these are your schedules, your dorm number, and a map of the school. It looks like your first class, Introduction to Philosophy, starts in ten minutes in Hall 2b," she informed us, handing the items to Amalisa who was closest.
"At this academy, tardy and lazy students don't last long. Here's a free tip; DON'T. BE. LATE. Now leave."
A sudden gust of wind appeared out of nowhere and pushed us out, slamming the door shut behind us.
"I guess this is it." I thought aloud. It's no longer a dream; I'm living in the moment. I pray to have a great first day at school.
"Hey, you -"
"Don't speak to me, don't look at me, don't even pretend to know me. I cannot be seen with the likes of you." Amalisa growled and stormed off.
"Wait up! I just want my copy of the schedules and map...." I tried going after her but it was too late. I lost her.
How is she so damn fast?! Now how am I supposed to navigate my classes and be there on time?
"Ugh! That b***h. She set me up!"
[What are you going to do now?] Atlas asked.
'She thinks she can keep me down,' I scoffed, 'I'll just have to ask for directions the old-fashioned way. If I recall correctly, Officer Genya mentioned Hall2b.'
It shouldn't be too difficult, there are a lot of students passing by. Two seconds later, I spotted my first victim.
"Um, hello, if you don't mind..." I didn't even get a chance to complete my sentence before he walked away, completely ignoring my existence.
'Weird. Maybe he's in a hurry.' I reasoned, but it was soon clear that wasn't the case, having gotten similar or even worse luck with others a few seconds later.
"Excuse me..." - Avoided.
"If I could have a moment of your time..." - Sidestepped.
"Could you show me..." - Changed directions.
"f*****g werewolves." One said in a passing comment.
I gave up the moment It dawned on me that I was never gonna get any help. I wandered aimlessly, hoping to coincidentally come across Hall 2b.
'My luck better turn around soon or I'm going to be very late. I've already wasted five minutes.'
"You're new, you're lost."
"Ah!!!" Startled, I almost jumped out of my skin.
I turned around to find a beautiful girl looking at me very curiously. "You startled me!"
"Sorry, I meant to do that."
She looked quite peculiar. Her hair was the color, chartreuse. So were her eyes, her nails, her boots, her accessories, even the color of her uniform was chartreuse.
But what caught my attention the most was her scent.
"You... You are a witch." I affirmed.
"Yes, I am. You can tell by my scent. We, witches, have a different scent than wolves, you'll get used to it. First time meeting one?" She spoke very fast.
"No. It's just my first time meeting one about my age."
I almost forgot. Hazel Peak is a dual academy, so both witches and werewolves species attend.
"Soooo, how do I smell?" She asked, smiling.
"What?"
"How do I smell?"
"Like an apple... A very ripe one."
"Are you calling me basic?"
"What? N-no?! I didn't mean it like that."
"Relax. I'm just kidding." She giggled, clearly enjoying the situation.
"Oh."
She came off a little weird to me. Are all the students of Hazel Peak Academy like this?
"Haha, I like this one."
"This one?"
"I just decided I'm going to help you. What do you need?"
Who cares if she's a little strange. I need all the help I can get, I am running late.
"I lost my map. Could you please direct me to Hall 2b?"
"Hall 2b, huh. You are already very close." She spoke seriously, pointing the way, "Just go down that corridor and turn right. It's the third class on the left. At the entrance, there's a big plaque there with Hall 2b engraved on it, you can't miss it. I'll see you around."
I turned to watch where she gestured. "Hmm, I think I get it - thank you?"
I thanked her but she was already gone. Just as mysteriously as she appeared.
I didn't have time to think about it. I took to my heels and headed to class with the admissions officer stern words echoing in my mind.
'I cannot be late!'
Almost there - "UGH!"
THUD.
I was in such a hurry, I tripped and hit a wall, bringing it down with me.
I felt my well-cushioned fall, 'Wait... I think it's a person.'
"I'm so sorry. I didn't see you there!" I apologized profusely.
An intoxicating aroma of smoky vetiver and cedarwood, underscored by a hint of spicy cardamom enveloped my senses. The fragrance was warm and inviting, yet undeniably powerful. I felt drawn to it.
"GET. OFF. ME. NOW!" A deep, masculine voice commanded. It sounded very volatile.
His wolfwill was so powerful, I felt the hairs on my body stand. I couldn't think properly for a moment, "Huh?"
"Are you deaf? I said, f**k OFF!"
"Mate!" Atlas chirped.
