Chip

Wyatt was sitting in a small office with white walls and some posters about the human body. In front of him sat one of the pack doctors waiting for him to start the conversation. His shoulders were hunched and he was fidgeting with his fingers, he was stalling for time. Wyatt took a deep breath before he started “I’m worried about my Luna.” The doctor smiled gently at her alpha and gave a short nod to have him continue. “She’s…we’ve… been together for six months and she’s still not pregnant. And she’s not gotten her period either. Shouldn’t she have had that already?” The doctor looked at him with a slight worry on her face, not having her period for six months without being pregnant was not normal. She cleared her voice “have you talked to her about this?” She couldn’t give any answers if she hadn’t examined her but wanted to nudge the alpha in the right direction. He scoffed “no, she’s young, I don’t want to worry her.” The doctor smiled back “is she on any contraception like the pill or the chip?” The alpha peered up and looked at her with confusion. “The chip?” He was not familiar with this new technology. The doctor gave another warm smile to comfort him “yes, it’s an implant that stops the female's cycle. It makes it so she can’t get pregnant, she won’t get into heat and she also loses her period while she’s on it. It also stops her from sensing her mate.” Alpha Wyatt looked shocked as she told him the news, he wondered if Pearl was using the chip. He stuttered as he answered “I…I don’t know doctor, I guess I have to ask her.” The doctor gave him yet another smile and sounded upbeat as she rounded off the conversation “that’s good alpha, have the talk. Then send her to me so I can examine her, it’s always good to make sure everything is working as it should.” Wyatt gave a small nod and stood up to walk out of the room. The doctor gave a slight bow in respect to her alpha and then Wyatt left. As he walked over to the pack house his steps were steady and fast, but his mind was foggy with so many things tossing around in his brain. He didn’t pay attention to any pack members as he walked with his fast strides towards the huge house with his mate in it. When he got inside he tracked down his mate right away, he grabbed her hand and dragged her with him to their bedroom. He didn’t know where to start so he just started to pace back and forth in the bedroom. Pearl was nervous as he had never dragged her away like this before. Both didn’t know how to start this conversation. Pearl didn’t even know what this was about, but she had a hunch it was nothing good. Wyatt tried to compose himself before he spoke, but he still sounded betrayed as he voiced his concerns. “Are you on the chip Pearl?” She looked at him with wide eyes, she didn’t think she would be confronted with this. Her lack of response agitated Wyatt and he was much harsher when he urged her “tell me, Pearl, tell me the truth!” She looked down to the floor and whispered out her answer “yes, I’m on the chip Wyatt.” He scoffed and raised his hands in despair. Then he let them quickly fall down again, he had a hard time looking at her. “Why didn’t you tell me, Pearl?” He peered at her hoping she would have something redeeming to say. Pearl was nervous as she croaked out “I just didn’t feel comfortable talking about it. It’s been so many new things at the same time. I just need time to adjust to everything.” Wyatt inched closer to her and held his hands in her arms. He was at arm's length away from her and he looked at her lovingly. He seemed relieved as he gave the forgiveness that he had no business in giving. It was her body and her choice, but to him, it was equally his choice of what happened to Pearl's body. “It’s ok Pearl, I understand. But you need to be honest with me. I was worried since you didn’t get pregnant.” Pearl looked up at him with teary eyes, she was afraid he would be mad. But now she was relieved that he took it well. But his next words made her skin run cold and her blood boil in anger. “We can have the doctor remove it so I can get you pregnant soon, then we can forget about this little mishap.” Pearl’s face froze like a stone statue, it was void of any emotion. But her eyes told it all, she was furious. It surprised Wyatt as she had always been so meek, but now she had true anger. He looked at her in confusion and then she suddenly answered him with an icy cold tone. “Absolutely not, I am not getting pregnant at eighteen. I can’t even legally vote or drink alcohol, and you want me to have a child? We will wait until I’m ready!” Her absolute words shocked Wyatt, he was not used to finding resistance. Nor had he any experience in anyone talking back at him in such fashion, she flat-out refused his request. He scoffed as he looked at her in disappointment and defiance. “You will do as I say, Pearl, I am your mate. I will not have your mate bond repressed because of some chemicals.” Pearl squared her shoulders and stepped back so his hands fell off her arms. “No Wyatt, this is my body and my choice. I will not remove it.” He looked at her in shock “but you can’t feel the bond if you’re on it!” He sounded desperate as he spoke. And Pearl was cool as ever as she persistently told him no, it was her body and her choice. That day they had their first full-on fight, and things were broken. Heated words were said, and feelings got hurt. It ended with Pearl running out crying from the bedroom. She ran out of the house and kept on running until she found herself lost in the woods.
