Chapter 10After Labor Day, with the high school and CSU guys back in school, there were fewer men to do the work. So it was the year-round crew who had to keep on taking care of people’s yards. Dave usually arranged it so that they weren’t doing any major landscaping jobs in September, figuring the fall planting would be fine in October, but the grass wouldn’t be growing much by then. Some days in September, though, Joe had to go cut grass by himself. Not that he minded. He enjoyed getting out of the shop and doing something with his hands and his back for a change.
