Beneath The Stars

Chapter 2

Hayes and i made it to class just in time,

Everyone's eyes went onto us as we entered the room together. We parted ways heading over to ours friends. He gave me a goodbye smile. I smiled back.

He sat with his football friends and I sat with Anna of course,

I passed a few girls who whispered about Hayes and i as I was walking to Anna.

What was there to whisper about?

I sat down beside Anna, ready to tell her about everything Hayes and I talked about. Until our teacher came into the room,

"Everybody take your seats" he said.

Everyone sat going into complete silence.

"Now, you all know about our camping trip tomorrow, we'll be gone for a few days, I'm sending home a letter that says all the essentials you'll need for the trip"

The guys in my class hollered excited for the trip. I saw that Hayes was staring at me.

Literally HELP me.

"Guys and girls will be separated for sleeping condos."

I heard a guy boo.

Everybody laughed.

"But, everybody will be paired up with someone in the class for the writing assignment."

Everyone looked even more intrigued now.

"Boys will be paired with girls, and girls will be paired with boys, the writing assignment is to write about something that is there at the camp. I don't care what it is, all I want is 100% effort. Now here are the partners"

Everyone's eyes were focused on the teacher. The room went silent as the teacher announced who was working with who.

I didn't pay much attention until the last few names popped up.

"Anna you will be working with Jeff, and Althea, you will be working with Hayes"

My eyes grew wide.

The whole class oh'd and awe'd

I felt my face turn red,

I looked over to Hayes and saw he was giving me a huge smile.

Should I be happy that I'm working with Hayes? Or nervous?

The rest of the class was a blur to me, I barely paid attention to the lesson, my eyes were focused on the clock counting down the hours and minutes until the very next day for the camping trip, and my mind was still focused on Hayes.

The next thing I knew, it was last period.

My whole day was just a big blur,

I don't even remember what Anna said to me that morning.

It was all just a big blur,

All because of one boy,

..Hayes Grier.

I walked out the school, the cold air hit me now, it was no longer warm.

The day felt so fast. Maybe because I wasn't focused.

I walked down the school steps outside and started walking, I decided I should take the long way home. Just to get my head straight. I'm not quite sure if I'm happy, or confused. He's Hayes Grier, captain of the football team, all the girls love him.

But why was he paying so much attention to me?

I felt a small smile hide beneath my face.

When I got home, no one was home, I saw a white note taped onto my bedroom door:

Went to run errands, will be back before dinner, if not, order pizza.

Love, Mom

I dropped my bag onto the floor and let my body rest onto my bed. It was peaceful. Just hearing the silence in the house.

I got up from my bed and decided I should Pack now,

I took out my red duffel bag and layer it onto my bed.

I took out 3 sweatshirts, 6 t-shirts, 2 sweatpants, 2 shirts, pj's and bras and the essentials

I felt like I was forgetting something.

Underwear. How stupid of me.

I stuffed all my clothes into my duffel bag, and thought some more.

What else should I bring?

I decided to bring my notebook ( of course) a pen, and possibly my iPhone charger. I would put my phone into my bag tomorrow morning.

I felt a weight lift off my shoulders.

Done.

I was now ready, for the next few amazing days.. With Hayes Grier.

And the rest of class but whatever.

I went downstairs and ate some dinner, then fell asleep on my bed, waiting for the next morning to come.
