Emrick's POV
"John, I'll be there in two days' time. I will bring Victoria and the kids with me. Amaris, I will see you then, my little wolf."
That was all I could say before ending the call after hearing her voice. It was all I could do from roaring into the phone as her voice stirred my sprite. Isabelle.... That wench would pay for the damage she has caused both Amaris and myself. I have lived a long life, done many atrocities, but all that pales to the things Isabelle has done. All her secrets. All her deciet. I'm only grateful it is all leading me back to the child I once believed to be dead for so long. But, one day, she will pay for it all. I can't disregard this just because she was once my mate. She didn't care about the bond or what it had represented. I don't even think she cared for the pregnancy. When she had told me Amaris was dead in her womb, due to a rogue attack, I was quick to believe it after seeing the wounds with my own eyes. The gashes across her abdomen were long and deep. But, now that I think back on it... Only her abdomen had been the target. The rest of Isabelle's body was untouched. She was clean of debris, besides the blood that had begun to dry down her pink gown. There had to be more behind the attack that day. I would find the answers anyway I could, even if I had to strangle it from Isabelle myself.
"Emrick, my love! Who were you talking on the phone with?" My second chance mate, Victoria, had cooed. Her voice was like a heavenly lullaby, always calming me to my core. She even reminded me of an angel with her silver flowing hair and ember eyes. Thankfully, the mooned goddess had granted me such a loving mate just sixteen years ago, providing me with two other children, Venus and Alec.
"My light, we will be leaving for the Ravenmoon pack tonight. I believe Isabelle had lied about my child being deceased. She is very much alive and is waiting for me. I would like you and the kids to accompany me to meet with her and the alpha. I will also need you there to give her company as I search for Isabella's whereabouts. I need to find the reasoning for her deception."
"She's alive? Did you speak with her? Has she been through any type of hardships?" My sweet mate asked with so much concern for the child neither of us have ever laid eyes on.
"Not exactly. And...", I realized I had never asked about her life. Was she in school? Was she training? Did she like anyone? Mentally, face palming myself now for how rash I had been when hearing her voice. "I may had been a bit out of sorts when she had spoken. Her voice made my sprite acutely aware of her. He was practically roaring in my head that she was our child. I had to end the call abruptly after telling John of our ETA. You know Falon can be a bit zealous."
"Of course, my love. The kids would be quite excited to hear of their big sister. I will inform them to pack, and then we will depart when you are ready.
We had spent the next two hours packing any necessities we would need to last for several days, waiting for the sun to set. It's less conspicuous for a family of vampires, let alone royalty, to travel at night. I didn't want to attract any unwanted attention towards my family.
"Falon?"
"Yes, Emrick?"
"I want to try and reach Amaris' sprite before we meet her. I need to know what to expect before we meet her. I need to know if she has lived a good life."
"That's if her sprite will acknowledge us. We don't even know her name to call out for her. We will need to be in my space to try."
"Then take me there now. I need to try. I need to know."
I sat on the edge of my bed, anticipation tearing at my every fiber. I closed my eyes as I fisted the duvet within my grasp. Darkness filled every sense as I felt the pull of my mind. A small clearing in a shadowy forest appeared. The only light visible was being cast from a glowing tree emitting a blue shroud of light from the center of the clearing. A weeping willow. Beneath it's whip-like branches was Falon, standing, staring into the deep abyss of the forest. In front of him was what looked like a bird bath, but blood took the place of water.
"Wha-"
"It is the blood of descendents. If she is a descendent, when you call for her she will hear the song of the blood. It will bring her to us. All you need is to call her."
