Lana closed her eyes, then let out a defeated sigh. Her attraction to Reeza was beyond her comprehension. The smell of her perfume, her porcelain skin and small frame, kept her lustfully aware of her stupidity. Reeza leaned in, her lips ever so close to Lana’s blushing.
Instead of kissing her, Reeza shoved her face away from her.
“You are a distraction. Don’t come here unless it’s work related or I send for you.”
Lana rolled her eyes, then rested her head back looking at the ceiling. Shaking her head, she couldn’t say that Reeza’s reaction was surprising. All she could do was shrug and turn heel. She moved with urgency so as to avoid the stormy weather that was soon to come.
“I’m so weak.” She muttered to herself. Whatever she thought her plan was had gone down the drain. Delusions had clouded her mind, making her believe she was just playing along, making her believe she no longer cared about Reeza. And in a blink of an eye, she had been proven wrong. She had gotten her truest best friend involved in Reeza’s game.
“Maybe I should step away from my relationship with Beck?” She pondered.it wasn’t fair being only able to devote a percentage of her heart to her. But at the same time she wondered if she would soon get over Reeza. They would no longer be having lunch or going on dates together.
“Out of sight. Out of mind. I can do this.” A small flicker of hope perked her up and gave her the energy to move forward with the day. When she got down to her floor, she looked around almost in hopes that Beck was there to comfort her. The storm that was swelling within her chest had passed, she needn’t burden Beck with her tribulations.
——-
After Reeza’s engagement was announced, for at least two weeks, the number of paparazzi that stood outside of the building, blocking the streets, made it hard to get home. Their news vans took up the pick up area. Security had to come out daily and shu them away like stray cats.
At this point she was just lucky no one had focused on their previous excursions or maybe they saw through Reeza’s game and didn’t take their relationship seriously. She pouted as she walked to the back end of the building where her limo now resided.
All the attention Reeza was getting made her nauseous. Seeing her proudly holding his hand made her sick to her stomach.
“Lana Stacey! Miss Stacey!” A young lady yelled towards her while in a light jog.
Lana stared her down as the building security quickly approached from the other side of her. They reached her before the young lady. “You aren’t allowed to be back here!” They growled.
“Lana weren’t you involved sexually with Reeza? How do you feel about engagement? Aren’t you a little bold for dating a Father then daughter? “ the young lady rapidly spit her questions while being usher back to the front of the building.
Lana had no words. She did, in fact, fall in love with a Reeza’s father and shamelessly f****d his daughter after he died. Her mood soured as she turned and picked up her pace to her vehicle. “If I would just come clean with Beck, I wouldn’t be alone right now.” She thought to herself then laughed. She really had the nerve to say Reeza was playing games when she was playing a wicked game with Beck. In her heart she knew the moment she told Beck that Reeza no longer cared about them being together, Beck would be by her side at every turn.
The limo driver opened the back door for her as her eyes began to cloud. As Lana started to step in, a red stiletto caught her eye. Quenching her eyes in an attempt to clear them, she let her eyes travel up the silky brown legs that were crossed and leaned towards her door.
“I hope you don’t mind.
She quickly entered the vehicle, unconsciously still playing the game. The limo smelled of lilacs after a spring shower. She gently wrapped her arms around Beck's neck and held her close.
After kissing her cheek, she whispered,”I’m glad you’re here.”
Her thumb traced a path under her eye as she stared into them. The softness of her lips made the reporter's words melt away. They absorbed the anxiety that was starting to seep out of every facet of her life. [Beck.]
When she pulled away, Lana basked in the moment just a little longer.
“So beautiful.” Beck whispered. As her face began to warm, along with other parts of her body, they pulled into the parking garage of her home. The location surprised Lana. She hadn’t told the driver or anyone about their situation.
“I asked the driver not to stop at the front door. We are going to be covert.” Beck giggled.
The driver opened her door and Mered met her in the garage.
“My lady, you have a visitor. He insisted on seeing you.” She saved nervously.
Only one person besides Reeza who could make Mered nervous, would be Tommy. They each had a status akin to Levi’s in her household, even though this was her estate.
“Show Beck to my room and get her anything she needs. I will handle this.” She nodded to Beck and headed towards the guest sitting area.
When she opened the door and saw Tommy, she was filled with happiness. It had been so long since they had been together in just a friends capacity. His embrace felt so natural, so kind. She didn’t realize how much she had missed him.
“Are you okay? Did you know about this Grayson person?” He said while pulling away from her. Before she could answer he turned and started to pace in front of the sofa,
“No, I didn't. I’m just as surprised as it seems you were.”
“I mean…damn Lana. All the things we did together and she had a fiancé. Hell, I dated here before I knew she was my niece. So she’s been lying to me for a while.” After he finished his sentence, his eyes journeyed down Lana’s body.
All she could do was smile. He had shown up at the best or worst time. [Story of my life.]
“Yes, I am.” She said before he could ask the question.
“Is it……mine?” He covered his mouth like his was going to be sick. Their last interaction wasn’t a pleasant one and to have a child to commemorate the moment was not ideal.
“I will find out tomorrow.”
“Should I come with you?”
“Don‘t do this Tommy.”
“Do what? What do you mean?” She could hear his anger rising.
“You have someone. Everything we had and might have is in your past. I bid you to leave it there. Move on.Don’t look back.”
Tommy sneered then chuckled. “That’s f****d up but so was that situation, right?”
He looked down then fell back on the sofa. “You were supposed to be mine. Your heart, body and soul should’ve been joined with mines in holy matrimony. You weren’t even going to tell me. Were you?”
Tommy’s tears and words jerked at her heart.
“No. I wanted you to be happy where you are. “
He stood back up and pulled Lana into his arms. His lips graced her cheek, “you will always be my first love. “ his arms tightened around her then he quickly moved towards the door.
“As friends, I expect to be involved in your children's lives. Don’t take that away from me.”
Hearing the door click behind him made her heart jump in her chest. His arrival and the feelings he invoked were unexpected. If anything made sense in her world, her relationship with him would’ve fit perfectly But it didn't.
Her world was a divergence of chaos, despair, and uncertainties.
