When Grayson finally returned Reeza's phone call, she had to take deep breaths before speaking, "We have a problem. We are going to have to change our plans because the b***h is pregnant."
“Reeza this is bullshit. I’m done.”
“Why?” Reeza said like a spoiled child who was mad she wasn’t getting her way.
“Look, I have been out of the b**m world for more than 3 years now and I put that leather suit on and helped you tie up Tommy and Lana. You know I would do anything you ask of me. Whatever my honey wants. BUT now it's starting to feel like I am punishing your lovers. What about me? How long do I have to stand in the shadows? Play time is over.” He growled.
“Just let me have this, Grayson!” Reeza’s voice started to crack under the pressure of his words.
“You know I was upset when I found out you were taking her to dinners and charity events, so I followed you. I am pretty sure Lana saw me a couple of times. The point is, it looked like you were actually in love with her. Even when you were doing her dirty by staying the night with your uncle's girlfriend!…You thought I didn’t know?..I said to myself, ‘Self, she is the person you were meant to live the rest of your life with.’ Am I the one that is truly being deceived, Reeza?”
Reeza stumbled back to her sofa. She didn’t realize how much strain she was putting on her relationship with Grayson. She couldn’t lose him. If everybody else left her side, she would survive if she only had him. Her shame ran deep. He knew things she wished he had never let pass his lips. He was speaking false lies into existence.
“Wait. Okay. Don’t do this to me. I’m sorry. My love for you is real. I just wanted to play with her heart a little bit like grandfather did with my mother. I can’t exist without you.” She mentally crumpled into a ball of tears.
“It’s been 7 years since we met. 5 since I decided I would never leave your side.. And no one knows I exist. Your dad is gone and I still don’t have boyfriend status in public. I…“ Grayson paused. A part of him wanted to let her go, but that would also mean abandoning his dreams. Even after he became a renowned Physicist, his father was still asking him when he was going to settle down and take over the family business. When was he going to meet her parents and Reeza was too busy playing her stupid little game.
He gathered his composure again and said, “Let's talk more over dinner tonight.”
“Yes. I will talk to you then.” Reeza held the phone. She wanted to hear him breathing, she wanted to hear him say that he loved her. Those words never came. When she hung up, she leaned forward in her seat. [Maybe I made a mistake trying to play this game.]
Tears welled up in her eyes as she thought about Grayson knowing about her cheating on him with a woman. She felt ashamed that he knew secrets she thought she tucked away perfectly. She took a painful deep breath, then thought about Luke. She had stopped having s****l relations with him but it still scared her that one day he might bring it back up again.
As she lay deep within her feelings her phone rang. [Luke?]
“What is it that you want?” She answered, annoyed by the appearance of his name.
“Watch your tone, bitch.” he growled. His voice drove painful chills down her spine until one word escaped her. “Yes.”
“Why is that tranny and Lana still hanging out! I thought you said you would do something to keep them apart. You are so f*****g incompetent!”
“Damn it. Not right now. Don’t bother me with this s**t right now. Grayson is already mad at me. I did all I could do for you. Beck was hired under an agreement with my father. I couldn’t fire her if I wanted to and I’m the f*****g CEO!” Reeza stood up from the couch. Her face turned bright red and the tears that she had so weakly held in came streaming out.
Luke exhaled roughly as if he was thinking about his next words. “Fine, I will handle this. Whatever is going on with you and my cousin, you better fix it. The more pain you cause him, the more pain I cause you.” There was no doubt in Reeza’s heart that Luke would attempt to dispose of her, even with her internal and external security. He might not succeed, but she would wish she was dead.
He abruptly hung up the phone, leaving her curiosity peaked. “What are you up to?”
She let her head fall and her chin lightly hit her chest. This was all her fault. If she had never taken him to stalk Lana with her, he would never have known she existed. The day of her father’s funeral, Luke and Grayson rode with her. They dressed as bodyguards, covertly wearing shades and wigs. Their faces were just as infamous as her own.
He said he was there for support but she knew that was his chance to see Lana up close.
He never got within 15 feet of her but he seemed elated to be in her presence like she was some Queen from another country. Then things took a more intimate turn when Lana passed out. She watched on, astonished, as he was like a knight gallantly rushing off to protect his princess on his noble steed. He held her body close to his chest, his face was full of concern. He never took his eyes off of her. If Grayson had not stepped in, he probably would not have let the doctor touch her.
Luke, the man that r***d her on their first meeting, had fallen in love with her father’s girlfriend. Lana had taken another man from her, effortlessly. Lana's ignorance of how she enchanted her with her curvaceous body and sweet tone was sickening to Reeza. She wanted to hurt her somehow.
Reeza walked over to her desk and sat on top of it pushing papers to the side with her hips. If she was honest with herself, seeing Luke love another woman so intensely, made her feel like she was suffocating. She wanted to hurt him or at least make him jealous. She had seen him on numerous occasions watching Lana on her lunch break. He didn’t become interested in Beck until the day Lana and Beck met.
No matter how many times she had lunch with Lana across the street from his office, he never once acted more hateful towards her. He didn’t care how many times Reeza f****d and charmed Lana. Luke had one goal and she was just a pawn moving in a way that he expected her to move.
While she thought she was being devious and calculating, he had already seen the hand she thought she would win with. If the years had not taught her anything, it was that Grayson and Luke were geniuses. If they had different parents or different upbringings, they could easily have become the next Levi.
So many of Grayson’s nights were spent reading books on particle and quantum physics while he agreed to let her sow her oats, without planting seeds. Her fiancé told her to go live as if he did not exist but fervently pushed his existence.
“Well, I guess I’m done.” She whispered into the darkness of her office.
