I packed my hair in my most favorite style, a simple ponytail with tendrils framing my face.
i was wearing no make up as usual and all i had in my bag was Kyla's rules booklet,my phone,my diary and some little coins.
"I should go now mother" i said, kissing her on both cheeks.
"Okay Vera."
"Sis, I'll give you a call". Lemmy said
"Alright and please select the outfit I'll be putting on tomorrow" I said.
"With all delight" Lemmy smirked
"Bye" I said, walking to the door.
"And help me get those cheese please" Lemmy called after me..
"Alright"
I arrived at Wilson mansion and i still felt new, I couldn't stop marveling at the sight even if i saw it just yesterday.
I was led in by one of the workers and my heart beat nervously as i stepped into the living room.
I met Wilson and his daughter's gaze fixed on the wall clock.
"Good morning" I said about to bow but quickly got hold of myhead.
"Dad! She's here" Kyla smiled, happily sliding her feet into her bunny footwear.
"Ohh ... Good morning" Wilson replied.
"We thought you weren't coming anymore" Kyla said.
"I'm sorry i delayed the driver" I said.
"It's fine" Wilson said .
"Have you gone through my rules booklet?" Kyla asked.
"Yes"
"And?" She asked curiously.
"I can cope with your rules" i said..
"And that means?" Kyla asked expectantly.
"I'm now officially your nanny" I said and i noticed how Wilson's face lit up.
"Yaay!" Kyla chuckled and she made me smile.
I really loved her.
"Welcome to my world Vera" Kyla said excitedly.
"Thank you" I said
"So, you've officially resumed as Kyla's nanny. You're to stay here on weekdays, you'll be free to go home on weekends, i know you're not aware of it and that's why you didn't bring anything with you. By tomorrow, you should move into your room here" Wilson said.
"Huh?.. Okay" I said, trying to digest his words.
"What I'm about to say is already in Kyla's booklet but I'll say it anyways ... You're not allowed to yell at her,hit her or make her cry. Once you do any of that, just know you're fired" Wilson said
I can't dare that, but i felt okay for him to look after her daughter and safeguard her rules..
"I won't do that". I said
"Okay. And please try as much as possible to keep to her rules, she doesn't like her rules being neglected".
"Okay".
"And i don't think there'll be problem between you two, you seem to like each other already". He said and continued,
"My daughter has never been this excited when a new nanny resumes.
She has been talking about Vera since you left yesterday" I chuckled
"She is beautiful plus she dresses nicely and decently too" Kyla said
"Thank you" I smiled.
"So, I'll leave you guys to do your thing" Wilson said, picking his phone and some envelope.
He got on his feet and was about heading to his room when one of his workers walked in, stopping him.
"What?".
"Mrs Marya is here" The worker said.
"What the f.." Wilson was saying but remembered Kylabwas here.
"And she's trying to force her way in" The worker said.
"Tell Chris to f*****g throw her out!" Wilson yelled in anger.
I blinked severally in confusion and quickly bent to console Kyla when i saw the little girl had started crying.
Wilson cursed at Marya before finally going out to meet her.
The cry grew louder and I saw the confused worker was about to hold her and it's like she remembered her fourth rule.
*Do not touch me without washing your hands*
Damn!
Kyla's cry grew louder and I got confused as well i was about to hold her when i remembered her fourth rule.
*Do not touch me without washing your hands*
Damn!
I sighed in confusion, looking around.
I didn't know the way to the kitchen where i can quickly wash my hands.
"Hello" I heard and turned to see a woman in a white apron.
The woman had given me Kyla's booklet yesterday and i remembered Wilson had called her Emily.
"Please where can i wa.." I was saying..
"Wash your hands" Emily completed it for me, smiling. She knew i had just resumed as Kyla's nanny.
"Go through that doorway, you'll find the kitchen".
"Thanks" I dropped my bag and hurried ahead, disturbed by the fact that Kyla is still crying...
I found the kitchen and quickly walked to the sink to wash my hands.
The kitchen looked amazing but i didn't have the time to properly look around.
I wiped my hands on one of the clean napkins before hurrying back to the living room.
I pulled the still crying girl into my arms and rocked her back, wishing she'll quiet down soon.
I don't like seeing kids cry, it sometimes make me want to cry too.
I gently sat on the couch with Kyla in my arms, patting her back and singing quietly to her.
Her cry had quieted down and she was just sniffing now.
"Who's Marya? and why did Kyla started crying all of a sudden" I thought to myself.
And why did all this had to happen the day i resumed.
I glanced at Kyla and noticed she had started to doze off.
I positioned her neck properly and stared admiringly at the little girl.
I was almost tempted to touch her beautiful black hair but then i remembered her number one rule.
*Do not touch my hair without my permission*
Aaarrgh, so much rules, but i did a good job in memorising them, i had made sure to memorise the key rules, and I'll go for the rest later.
Kyla had slept off completely in my arms.
I never knew the smart and talkative Kyla could cry that much and Wilson also looked pissed when he walked out of the door.
I had hoped nothing had gone wrong.
I stared at the sleepy Kyla admiring everything about her beautiful made face.
Wilson walked back into the living room, still looking quite angry.
He already made Marya go away. The lady is just a pain in the ass,she pisses him off so much.
His anger melted immediately at the sight in front of him.
Kyla is being held so perfectly in Vera's arm that he can boldly say after him, this is the next person that holds Kyla so perfectly.
Even Marya doesn't hold her daughter this way.
Wilson smiled, glad he finally has a nanny that loves his daughter genuinely. He was surprised by how the two blended into each other so quickly.
"I'll make sure I do everything i can to take her family out of the problem they are facing" he thought.
I glanced up nonchalantly and was startled to see Wilson standing before me.
What!
This man is sure creepy.
He cleared his throat, lost for words.
"Hmm,did you wash your hands before touching her?" He finally asked.
"Yes i did, Emily showed me to the kitchen" I answered.
"Okay".
"I think i should drop her in her room,so she'll be more comfortable" I said after a long moment of stealing glances at each other.
"That'll be okay. come with me".
I quickly stood up with Kyla in my arms and staggered back over the weight of the little girl.
Wow!
Wilson quickly took her from me.
"I'm so sorry".
"Sorry for what? You did nothing. It's normal for you not to be able to carry Kyla, she has weighed a lot since birth" .
"Ohh,no wonder my hands were starting to ache" I laughed but quickly got hold of myself.
"You're free to laugh Vera" Wilson said and i blushed at how smoothly my name moved out of his mouth.
"Okay, we should drop her in her room. Your hands must be aching". I said trying to act bold.
"No, I'm used to it but I'm just worried"
"Over what?" I asked worriedly, noticing the hint of sadness on Wilson's face.
"Kyla falls sick whenever she cries to sleep, she starts burning up and all" Wilson said, staring pitifully at his daughter.
"Ohh...I'm so sorry about that. What can we do to prevent it?" I asked, blinking severally.
I do that whenever confused, worried or surprised.
"Nothing, I'll just call the doctor once she wakes up" Wilson said.
"But we can just rub her body with wet cloth or she should just take a cold bath" I thought, not daring to say it out..
Maybe the rich call the doctor for everything.
"Let's take her to her room first for a comfortable sleep".
"Ohh..yeah" Wilson said and started leading the way.
He placed Kyla on her bed and then kissed her forehead.
He pulled her blanket over her and then turned to me.
He found me staring all over Kyla's room.
"Wow!" I finally exclaimed.
Mr Wilson held my waist from my back, pulling me gently against him. His breath fanned through my ears as he whispered,
I'll make this your home someday if you will be willing"
"Huh" I said turning my head slowly. Our eyes locking, full of unspoken words.
