CHAPTER 17
LOLA'S POV
I snicked passed the guards that seemed to be protecting the shewolves and pups in the pack house. I made my way into the woods where I huddled behind a large tree, I needed to find Miles and Elliot.
The thought of something bad happening to Elliot made my blood cold. I shook the feeling away as tried to focus on my target.
I had a gun, one that I found in the gym. I loaded it up and started aiming for a rouge to kill, but seeing that the fight was to heavy, I couldn't shoot. One wrong move and I could accidentally kill our own pack member.
Yeah, that's right. Ever since Ella and Miles got together, Elliot has made us stay close by he's side. He made me feel like I finally had a home, seeing my parents split and never gave me any attention. They lost interest in me, and Elliot was like an elder brother bringing me home. That's why I'm determined to save Elliot, he's my brother even if at most times he's a pain in the ass.
I started to climb the tree I was hiding behind. Knowing if I had a better view I could locate my brother, Miles and Elliot.
I search the field with my eyes but instead found something else that made my stomach turn. I saw Ella running into the field with a bow and arrow. She looked fierce, but I knew she could get hurt, and if she did Miles wouldn't be able to handle the pain. Mates are sensitive, and that's their downfall. I quickly climbed down the tree, still on guard for any rouge who dared to come near me.
I ran all the way to where I last saw Ella. That's when I spotted her shooting down rouges like a warrior, it was a pleasant scene. She looked amazing, I couldn't help but feel proud of my friend. That's when I saw a rouge run at her, she didn't see the wild mutt coming towards her though.
I dropped my gun and started to sprint towards her, hoping I would make in time grab her wrist so we could make a run for it. Instead I pushed her out of the way as the mutt leaped on me and started digging it's canines into my ribs.
I screamed in agony as pain and blood started to flow freely.
"Lola!" Ella screamed as she quickly grabbed her arrow and shot the rouge in the chest. It let out a loud whimper as it slumped to the ground.
ELLA'S POV
"You i***t! I had him, Lola." I sobbed out as I tried to push the dead wolf off of her. But it was too heavy. I struggled to pull the mutt off her as I cried out.
"It's going to be okay, Lola." But her eyes seemed to weaken as she just weakly smiled at me. If I didn't get her help now, she won't make it. I can't live with myself knowing she died because of me.
"Somebody, Help!" I screamed out as I looked around me, while still trying to push the wolf off of her body.
That's when I saw Mile's wolf come into view. He soon shifted back and started sprinting towards us.
"It's going to be okay." He whispered to me as he grabbed the wolf off of Lola without any trouble. I shook away my amazement and instead examined Lola. She had a large wolf bite on her ribs as blood started to leak.
I cried in agony, watching my friend die before my eyes.
"We've got to help her Miles, we have to!" I shouted as I tried to carry her body, but she just screamed in pain at every touch.
That's when I felt Miles put he's hands gently on my forearm. He shook he's head and lowered it, not wanting to see my eyes.
I cried out to what he meant. He was telling me she won't make it.
"No! We can't give up, we have to save her. Please!" I cried out as I held Lola in my arms.
"I'll be okay, Ella." Lola whispered as she put her weak cold hand on mine.
It was then I noticed that the attack stopped, our pack won the fight. But as I looked around everyone was injured, no one looked like they could help Lola.
"I won't let you go, not so easily." I sobbed out. I then felt Miles pull me away as I screamed in agony at my friend dying.
ELLIOT'S POV
I just killed the last rouge that dared to come into my land. I was going to smile in victory at how we defeated these rouges but a agonising scream stopped me. That scream belonged to Eloise. Afraid that my brother got hurt I ran with all the strength I had left in me.
The view I saw was something that was going to haunt me for the rest of my days. I saw Miles holding Eloise, who seemed to be screaming in pain, but then my eyes trailed to the sight of Lola. She laid there with blood leaking around her freely as her body look timid and weak for the first time, she didn't look like Lola at all.
I ran towards her body and dropped to my knees heavily as I held her body in my arms.
"You're going to be okay." I whispered as I rocked her back forth. But tears seemed to flow freely from my eyes as I held her timid body.
That's when I heard Lola chuckle.
"Why is everyone lying? Do you think I'm afraid of the truth?" She asked with a smirk.
I couldn't help but admire her strength even in her situation.
"You can't go, not yet." I replied as I put my head in the crook of her neck, trying to hide my mournful expression.
I didn't want her to go, not yet. I haven't felt this way about anyone after my mate passed. I needed her to stay, she was my strength and I couldn't loose her.
"You'l be fine." She whispered as she stroked my hair, that's when I saw a few tears shed from her eyes as she smiled.
"I need you to stay, Kako. I need you." I cried out as I held her tightly.
That's when I heard Lola chuckle as she put her hand over my cheek.
"You know you keep calling me that weird name, and I still don't know what it means." She smiled weakly at me.
I then put my hand over the one she had on my cheek.
"It means everything is going to be okay." She then smiled as she closed her eyes, a tear escaped as she slumped into my arms.
I then put my head back into the crook of her neck.
"Thank you, mutt." She whispered in my ear.
I then looked back at her. "What did I say about calling me a mutt-" I chuckled, but my laugh soon died as I saw her body turn lifeless.
She was gone.
I looked up and saw Eloise scream in agony as Miles had to poke her with a needle so she could calm down. Her body soon relaxed and she fell into a deep sleep, as Miles picked her up bridal style and carried her back to the house.
I knew Miles was hurting, Lola was like a sister to him, and he's mate is in pain. I want to go in the pack house and help my brother, but every muscle in body refuses to walk away from Lola.
I kept her in my arms as I cradled her back in forth.
"Shh." I whispered. I was trying to calm myself by thinking Lola was just sleeping, but it just hurt more.
"Everything's going to be okay." I whispered in her hair as I kept my head in the crook of her neck. I just wanted to smell her scent one last time before her smell turns to death.
