THE FIRST call came just after sunrise. Sophie had barely finished making coffee when her phone vibrated repeatedly across the kitchen counter. The sharp sound echoed through the quiet apartment, immediately drawing her attention away from the mug in her hand. She frowned at the screen. Matthew. He almost never called this early.
