Nate's POV:
I finally learned how to make milkshakes. It's not like I didn't know or at least the basic things. The reason why I wanted the Milkshake girl to teach me was that I wanted to spend some time with her. Luckily, she didn't suspect anything. More and more I am thinking about the special girl. Because of this idea, which I got in my head, I missed many opportunities. I mean that many girls walk after me, but I rejected them all just because they are not what I am searching for. To be honest I don't even know what I am looking for. I know what I want from a girl, but if I continue like that, I will never have a girlfriend. Something that I don't want to happen. I want to be in a relationship, but with the right person. I won't lie that sometimes I am jealous of people with long-lasting relationships. I want that as well, but I'm not sure that this will happen to me. Maybe the Milkshake girl will resolve my problem. She is nice, good-looking and most importantly, she treats me like a normal person. I'll see how this one goes.
I woke up and checked my phone. It was 9 am. Tomorrow school starts so I want to do something productive today. I promised myself that this year, I would focus on my studies. Even if that means that I have to pause the girls for a while. After all my future is more important than a girl is. Well, if someone special appears, I won't reject her, but I won't put her as number one on my list. If I end up with a girlfriend, something that I don't believe much, I will make her understand my priorities. Otherwise, I have to tell her goodbye. I need a girl who will understand me.
I got out of bed and went to get ready. Usually, on the last day, the boys and I don't go out together, because all of us want to get ready. Moreover, we are together every single day. One day won't do any harm. I am very lucky to have friends like them. I went for breakfast. To my surprise, my parents were at home. Most of the time they go out early due to their work. I sat at the table, next to mom, and started eating. She gave me a smile, which I returned.
- Are you ready for the first day of school?
- I think that I am.
- Are you ready to find a girlfriend? - my dad asked chuckling
Yes, my dad is not normal. He has been asking me this for the past two years. Not like I mind it, but this is something with which I don't want to rush. As I said when the right one comes, I happily will make her my girlfriend.
- Can you stop asking me this? - I asked chuckling as well
- Why? I haven't seen you with a girl for a long time.
- I know, but this year I want to focus on my studies so I will pause the girls. Well, if the right one appears, I will let her come close.
- Your dad is right. I don't want you to rush, but you can't be alone or only with the boys. I know that they are your best friends, but after some time they will go on their way and you will need someone next to you. We'll always be here, but you know what I mean.
- I want you to leave me alone.
I don't know is the right time to tell them about the Milkshake girl. Well, we are not friends or close to each other, but I like her company. She is a good person and treats me well. Maybe I can include her in my friend's group. The boys won't mind. Moreover, they liked her as well. I don't know will she accept it, but it's worth a try. The fact that school is starting is not helping me. I won't be able to see her that often.
- Nate, hello. Earth to my son.
- What?
- Where were you?
- I have been thinking about something.
- Something or someone? - dad asked with a smirk
- Since you want to know so much. The boys and I changed the place where we usually go. I have told you about that. There we met a girl who works in the shop. She is very nice to us and makes great milkshakes. That's it. There is nothing else. Before you ask, we are not friends and don't have any relations, except the seller and customer.
- Well, if you put some effort, there might be some relations. Is this why you are there so often?
- I don't know. We are the only people who come. From time to time, there pass someone, but the place is not very popular. The Milkshake girl works there to help her friend who is the owner.
- Why do you call her like that? - mom asked
- Because she makes milkshakes and she's a girl.
- Don't you know her name?
- I do, but I liked the nickname, which I gave her. She liked it as well.
- Good for you then.
- Kind of, yes. Tomorrow she starts school as well and she won't come to work that often.
- You can find a way to keep in touch with her.
- I have her number, but I haven't used it much or to say only once.
- It's better than nothing.
- Maybe. I will go out now. I decide to do something productive today, but I don't know what.
- Your Milkshake girl can help you with that. By the way, where does she work?
- In a milkshake shop, near Coco's restaurant. Why?
- I am just asking. I haven't heard of this place.
- You're not the only one. I will go now. - I said and left
Mom and dad are right. My Milkshake girl can help me to do something productive. Maybe we can make milkshakes today as well. Well, if she is at the shop. She might be getting ready for school for which she won't come. There is one way to find out. I walked to the shop. I saw Carmen behind the cash register. She smiled at me and before I could ask her, she answered my question.
- Olivia will come soon. You can wait for her here.
- How did you...? Anyways, thanks.
- Do you want a drink?
- Will you be sad if I tell you that I prefer her to make me one?
- No, why would I be? After all, I have been a teenager as well. - she said and winked me
In that moment, the bell rang and the Milkshake girl came in. She looked like she has run a marathon. I chuckled to myself but didn't say anything.
- Olivia, what has happened?
- I didn't want to be late so I ran up to here.
- You know that there is no need to do that. Now, start working. Someone wants a milkshake and wants you to make it.
She turned around and looked at me. I smiled at her and she shook her head. The Milkshake girl returned the smile and went to make my drink. I sat at my table and waited for her. Soon she came and left it on the table. She was about to go, but I grabbed her hand and made her sit next to me. It's not the nicest move, which I did, but that came to my mind. She gave me a look and I answered it with a smile.
- I want to do something productive today and I hope that you can help me.
- Ok, what do you want to do?
- I don't know. Is there a chance that you can finish work early and go out with me?
- I can do that, but I won't. Instead, I will go and buy us lunch, while you are here. Can I count on you?
- Yes, totally. I can even make a milkshake if it's necessary.
- That's what I want to hear.
- What we're going to do until then?
- We can drink milkshakes and talk.
- I like this idea.
- Me too. - she said with a smile
I haven't said it up to now, but she has a beautiful smile. Maybe I need to look at her from a different angle. Up to now, I have looked at her like a girl who can be what I am searching for, but now I can check her out. Girls always do this with boys, why can't we do this as well? The Milkshake girl came with her drink and sat next to me. She was dressed simply, but comfortably. Her eyes are like that dark chocolate. Maybe she hasn't been to the beach, but the sun has left traces. What I have noticed is that she never wears make-up or at least I haven't seen her wearing it.
- Do you like dark chocolate?
- Yes, why?
- Do you remember the day when you dropped the keys from the shop and I offered to help you to open them?
- I do. What about it?
- I looked in your eyes and saw that they are like dark chocolate. My mom loves it.
- It's not my favorite, but I like it. By the way, thanks for the compliment. - she said blushing a little bit
- I always compliment pretty girls. - I said chuckling
At lunchtime, the Milkshake girl went to buy us lunch. I wanted to pay it or at least give her money, but she rejected me. According to her, this is for all the times when I have bought her lunch or any food. Now, I am sitting here alone. I thought that there would be some customers, but no. I was on my phone when the bell rang. I thought that it might be the Milkshake girl, but I was surprised to see who was in front of me.
- Mom, dad. What are you doing here?
- Well, like your parents, we deserve to know where our son spends most of his time.
In that moment, an idea came to my mind. Since they are here, I can make them order something.
- You can't be here unless if you don't order something.
- Ok, then. What can you offer us? - dad said
- It's your choice. - I said and pointed to the menu on the wall
While my parents were choosing their drinks, the bell rang. I was hoping that it's a customer, but it wasn't. The Milkshake girl came with the lunch. I smiled at her and she returned it.
- I'm here. Sorry for the wait. There were people in front of me.
- It's ok. I don't mind.
- Oh, hi. What do you want to drink?
- Which is your best drink?
- Personally, I like all. It depends on you.
- I suggest you the vanilla and chocolate mix.
- I guess that this is your favorite, right Nate? - dad asked
- Sorry for the question, but do you know these people?
- Let me present you to my parents.
- What?
- Don't worry, they won't eat you. - I said laughing
- I'll make the drinks. By the way, did you decide? - she asked looking at my parents
- We'll try Nate's suggestion.
- Ok, I will make two vanilla and chocolate mixes.
- Actually, sweetie, can you make me a strawberry? - mom asked
- Sure, no problem.
- And I will help.
- Because...?
- Because I said that I want to do something productive today.
- Ok, then. I'll bring the ingredients and you can make the drinks.
The Milkshake girl brought everything that I would need and I started making the drinks. Now I realize why my parents are here. I should've known. Anyways, I can't tell them to go away. They are customers and I know how important they are for my Milkshake girl. I finished with the strawberry milkshake and started the other one. I told my parents to sit and when the drink are done, I will bring them. From time to time, I was looking at the Milkshake girl to make sure that I am doing everything right. When I was done, I put the drink on my parents' table and grabbed the lunch, which she bought. I took her with me and both of us sat with my parents. They are not bad people, but I know that they will ask many questions.
- I didn't know that my son works here. - mom said
- Because I don't. I am just helping.
- Which is surprising. You are nice only when you are in good mood.
- Mom, don't start.
- Don't worry. What's your name sweetie?
In that moment, the Milkshake girl was eating her lunch. I chuckled when I looked at her mouth full of food. She looked at my mom and froze at a place. I am not supposed to laugh, but it's very hard to control myself. I gave mom a look. Luckily, she understood it.
- I... I am Olivia.
- What a nice name. I am Janis and this is Davis.
- Nice to meet you.
I see that the Milkshake girl is nervous, but I don't know why. Well, I didn't know that my parents will come here. She excused herself and went to the toilet. I waited ten minutes and decided to check her. Maybe something has happened. I opened the door and saw her in front of one of the sinks. I have to say that for a small shop they have too much space for a toilet. There are three cabins in each room. Well, for boys and girls. I came closer to her and put one of my hands on her shoulder.
- Are you ok?
- What? Yes, I'm fine. It's just that... the food was still hot when I started eating it.
- Are you sure that it's only that?
- Yes, there's nothing else. Let's go back. I don't want to leave your parents alone.
Soon the Milkshake girl became calmer. My parents or mostly my mom asked her many questions, but she answered them all. The rest of the day, we spend here. I thought that my parents would go home after some time, but no. They even bought dinner and we ate it in the milkshake shop. I won't lie that I was happy about it. First, because I can be with the Milkshake girl, and second because my parents can get to know her and tell me if she is the one. The final decision is mine, but I want to know what they think about her. I hope that the new school year, won't stop me from seeing her. I enjoy spending time with her and I don't want this to end.
