Chapter 4

Vincent’s POV The line disconnected before I could even respond. I glared down at the woman lying below me. Something wasn’t right and rage was starting to cloud my vision, but I won’t do anything to her just yet. Storming out of the room. I met Liam and Mr Patterson walking towards me, he was barefoot and in his pajamas. “What’s wrong boss?” Liam questioned immediately he saw my face. I didn’t respond, instead I turned to the sleepy looking man. “Mr Patterson, get in there and fix that woman up.” I pointed to the emergency room. “And you,” I pointed to Liam. “I need our men at the harbor, my sister is being attacked and my drugs are likely being stolen. Get there now!” The two men departed from my presence and I stormed out of the house. Walking hurriedly towards a sleek black Lamborghini parked outside. “Keys!” I shouted and someone ran to me with it. Hopping into the vehicle, I clicked on the ignition and summoned the beast to life. Speeding out of the massive compound and into the streets. A row of black jeeps followed me as I pulled out. Liam was doing his job. I pressed my foot on the accelerator, flying down the back roads that led to the harbor, despite the fact that I have never really been there. I’ve always allowed my sister to handle my business in the harbor and some other places in the city. After what felt like several minutes, I pulled up in the harbor. The car tyres perked up dust as I parked near the warehouse and the jeeps fell in line behind me. I got out of the car first, rushing towards the warehouse. The large metal door made loud creaking noises as I pushed it open. And inside, I saw the hell that had been unleashed in the half empty warehouse. The smell of blood welcomed my nostrils as I stared at the horror before me. About two dozen of my men were lying in the pool of their own blood. Each of their souls long departed from their body. But someone was missing. My sister. I would know even if she was lying in the midst of a hundred dead men. She always had a thing for wearing blue clothes, be it at battle or in an office, blue was her color. And I couldn’t see anything like that in sight. “Val!…….Find her!” I yelled, just as my men stormed in. They were all armed to the teeth. This was always the case whenever my drugs were stolen. My men knew better because it isn’t the first time we’ve had issues like this . Every last dead body was flipped over, and Valerie is still nowhere to be found. “Boss!…….over here.” I heard Liam shout from a distance, walking up to him to see a trail of blood, leading to the backdoor. It was as though someone was dragged outside. All any of us could hear as we stepped out through the back door was the sizzling of flames. Someone had been strapped to a chair and set them ablaze. My lips parted and a weak breath escaped through them. Glaring down at the blue fabric, as it melted underneath the fire. The person was burnt beyond recognition, but I knew it was her. She wouldn’t go anywhere without our family ring. And that family ring was sitting on her finger there in the fire. I reached into fire to take the ring. It was burning hot, but I held it in my grasp. My legs grew weak and I crashed to my knees, watching as the flame ate her up. Liam pulled out an extinguisher to kill the fire, but it was too late. My eyes gave way to the tears hiding at its corner as it traced down my cheek. I was on my knees for, only God knows how long, staring as smoke finds its way out of my sister’s dead body. “Boss, Adriana is awake.” Liam said behind me. A hint of irritation in his voice when he mentioned her name. I was also irritated on hearing her name. After now, my mind could only see her as an enemy. She had only been in my territory for an hour and I lost the only family I had. My gut told me she was playing me, and my gut had never proven me wrong. Standing up, I turned to Liam. He had blood stains all over his shirt and his hands were dripping with blood too. But I wasn’t surprised, I knew he was cleaning up the mess that the thieves have made. “Come with me,” we walked back in through the backdoor. Everything was already being cleaned up, the dead men were zipped into a body bag while someone held a hose to wash out all the blood. Just as we were stepping out the front door, I turned to the rest of them. “Make sure to bring my sister’s body home and finish up before morning.” I pointed to the man holding the hose. And he nodded. “I don’t want the f*****g commissioner coming to my doorstep.” “Yes boss!” They all chorused. “Take the wheel.” I said to Liam as we approached the car outside. I didn’t want to drive. Knowing that I might crash the car, after the horrible thing I just saw. Driving at medium speed, Liam took the same route as we did going to the harbor. Cars had gradually filled the road as the sky got a little clearer each minute. “What are we going to do boss?” Liam asked, breaking the silence. While his eyes were glued to the road. Placing my sister’s ring inside my pocket, I didn’t respond. Even though I knew what he meant by that question. I wanted to keep my decision to myself, for now. But I’m going to make her pay for the sins of her family. An eye for an eye. I hopped out of the car, just as we pulled up inside the compound. My feets kicked up wet innocent grasses as I walked in through the front yard. I stopped at the entrance to take a pistol from the guard at the front door, before climbing up the stairs. I had forgotten that Liam was behind me until he walked past me and pushed open the emergency room door. He waited outside for me to enter first. And when I walked in, Adriana was sitting up. Her amber eyes stared directly at mine, before staring down at the pistol in my hand and then back up at me again. I saw the fear dancing in her eyes, underneath the strands of hair covering them. But I didn’t care. “Everyone out!” I said without breaking eye contact with her. And everyone in the room walked outside hurriedly. But Liam still stood at the entrance. I turned to him. “That applies to you too.” He took a few steps backwards and closed the door from outside. Though I knew he was still standing outside. But I left him. He might just be staying in case Adriana tries anything stupid. “Why are you here?” I turned back to the woman sitting in front me. But she didn’t respond, all she did was just stare back at me and the fear in her eyes gradually turned into rage. I lifted the gun, pointing it towards her. She didn’t flinch, but I don’t care either. I was going to lose my cool if she didn’t speak up. “Why the f**k are you here?” I asked again. This time my voice was louder. But still, she didn’t respond. My eyebrow curled into a frown and I couldn’t control my finger as it squeezed on the trigger. A shot rang out.
