The Adventures of Morfix

Chapter 5 - The Swordsman

The competition started on a good note with fighters going up against each other. chants and rants filled the arena as fighters battle it out. it was soon time for Morfix to fight in the tag war. it was going to be his first major fight and competition. he was feeling very nervous and as he sat alone waiting to be called, he summoned his sword with his eyes. Morfix had learned to control his super powers and had also learned every other stuff he is capable of doing. even though, he is not to use magic in public in Laos, he feels confident that he will do well.

As HE heard his name called, he juggled into the area where there were seven other fighters waiting. its such a big arena fit enough for 50-70 fighters at a time. Morfix was the youngest of all fighters and he was touted to among the first to be evicted. Morfix was very tactful, he used his skill to evade the first sword coming towards his neck as he dodged and strikes back with brutal force. he had taken down on of the fighters. a huge cheer and his name was being roared.

Gaius, the hawk had taken a vantage position. he can see all going on in the arena and he has his keen eye on Morfix as he has gotten a hold of the crowd. Morfix maneuvered his way and he came out top of the seven other contestants and the crowd kept on chanting his name. Gaius was beginning to notice was Morfix handled his sword and he was curious that only the top warriors of Mobgad handles swords that way.

Morfix was paired with Morgan, the killer in the next round and the bout didn't take 5 minutes before Morfix had won. his skills came through and he was through to the final. the question on everyone's lips was , will Morfix win? some even suggested that even if he did not win, he deserved to be knighted and to lead the swordsmen of Laos. he had fought bravely through the competition and there is no stopping him now.

the final bout had started and Morfix was fighting a contender thrice his own weight. he had knocked down Morfix twice but he had refused to give in. the bout had been going for 25 minutes and he had knocked Morfix sword out of his hands

"finish him!!! kill him!!! screamed the crowd.

Morfix was left with no choice. with his powers, he made a very loud thunder to strike in a nearby distance such that it drowned the noise of the crowd and as they all looked away, Morfix sword swiftly crawled back to him and in a twinkle on an eye, he had strike down his opponent. there was a great cheer and Morfix was declared winner and leader of the swordsmen.

this tactic evaded everyone except Gaius the hawk, he saw all that happened and he was convinced that he had seen the Mobgad blood in Laos. he left his vantage point and is ready to go back to Mobgad with his discovery.
