Charlie lived way out in Dinwiddie, a good half hour drive from the shop, but Lamar got lost along the way and wouldn’t admit it. “I know where I’m at,” he’d growl whenever someone asked. Night fell around them as they drove down a single lane highway hemmed in on either side by acres of farmland. Every time Colin saw a cow he’d moo, which set Stacy giggling again, but after an hour or two Lamar punched their friend in the arm to shut him up.
