Chapter 7 Loki’s happy tenor hummed around Virgil’s head, a pop melody that he failed to place. After an hour of the same song, Virgil wished Loki would switch to another one, but it was sweet to listen to, all the same. His fellow SdAI Alpha ran the Midtown precinct’s upgrade and repair station in the basement next to Logistics and Supply. A wise choice in Virgil’s opinion. Loki, of course, did not demand his workspace down here for logical reasons. Like his namesake, Loki enjoyed the vexation he could cause to humans who wandered into his twilight domain. It was a place Virgil appreciated, because he and his fellow AIs could disappear into Loki’s territory to escape the cutting ways humans tended to treat them with. Loki was always a willing ear and liked to repay egregious acts again
