After being rejected so cruelly, Hayley left the pack house and walked dejectedly back to her small cabinet house inside the woods. She lived in the woods all alone, without parents or relatives, because she had none. Her life has always been nothing but vulnerable and filled with sorrow. When she arrived at the small cabinet, it was already dark, so she sat in the passage in front of the cabinet, her head resting on a wooden plank. Tears couldn't stop rolling down her cheeks as the memory of the rejection from earlier kept replaying in her head, bringing more tears to her eyes. “Am I really destined to suffer as a moon goddess? Is it my fate to remain wolfless for the rest of my miserable life?” Hayley couldn't help but ask as she hiccuped because of too much crying. She has no one to pat her back or rub her hair, telling her that it's not the end of the world and that she will live a better life soon. She was all alone in this world. “Just take my life,” Hayley said, standing up from the place she was seated. She entered the little cozy cabinet and brought out a big rope. She hung it on the ceiling before putting her neck inside of it. She wanted to commit suicide and end her miserable and unfortunate life. “In my next life, I would love to come as the daughter of an Alpha, so I won't suffer so much,” she muttered as a tear dropped her eyes before she drew the rope up, choking her so much that she couldn't breathe. Her legs kept dangling in the air, and her vision was blurry and clouded with tears. That was all Hayley could remember before she passed out. ***************** NEXT MORNING Hayley’s eyes opened slowly, only to see that she was still inside her house. “What happened? Wasn't I dead?” She asked herself inwardly as she struggled to stand up from the cold floor. She could remember vividly well that she choked herself with the rope hung on the ceiling, and she felt her life slipping out of her, but what exactly happened? Wasn't she supposed to be dead? "My dear, why are you trying to kill yourself?” A voice spoke from behind her, making Hayley turn swiftly to the voice. It turned out that the voice belonged to an old woman. “Who are you, and what are you doing here?” Hayley asked, and her throat dried because of how long and hard she had cried the previous night. “I was passing by, and I met you trying to commit suicide, so I stopped you. Just because you got rejected doesn't mean that is the end of the world,” the old woman said, stretching a bottle of water to Hayley. “How did you know I was rejected?” Hayley’s brows curled into a frown. She found it so suspicious how the old woman knew she was about to commit suicide, all because she was rejected. "I just happened to know, so take this water and drink it. Return to the pack house and continue your duties like nothing happened. The moon goddess has many things installed ahead of you,” the old woman said, took her walking stick, and was about to make her way out of the cabin. “Moon goddess, you say? I guess she also hates me, as everyone does in this pack.” Hayley chuckled bitterly as she uncapped the bottle of water and drank from it. “No, my child, she doesn't hate you; in fact, you're dearest to her. Whatever you're facing is just a trial,” the old woman said, turning and walking towards the door. Just when she was about to leave, she turned towards Hayley and smiled shortly. “Make sure you remain strong; your destiny will start to be fulfilled soon.” With that said, the old woman disappeared into thin air. Realizing that the old woman had already left, Hayley stood up from the ground and ran to the entrance door, only to find the road leading out of the woods empty. “Where did she go? I wanted to ask her about her name. Hayley said she searched all over the woods but couldn't find the old woman again. After fruitless searches, she returned to her cabin and left for the bathroom to take a cool shower. In less than five minutes, she was done bathing because she didn't want to be late for her pack duties; otherwise, she would receive an earful of insults from the head of the cleaning department inside the packhouse. Surprisingly, Hayley was stronger and healthier than she thought she would be. Despite all her tears, she suddenly became energetic after drinking the bottle of water. In less than fifteen minutes more, she ran out of her cabin, heading to the packhouse. She had to run all the way to the packhouse in her wooden sandals. The packhouse was just a few minutes' drive from her house, so she got there faster. While the guards opened the gate of the packhouse for her to enter, some of them were gossiping and murmuring among each other, while others were laughing at Hayley. If it were the usual Hayley, she would have run out of the packhouse out of embarrassment, but it seems the new Hayley didn't care and seemed unfazed about the whole mockery thing. She walked into the packhouse with her head high. As she walked down the hallway, all the pack maids and guards who walked past her would laugh or whisper among themselves, but Hayley ignored them flat out, like she was the one they were gossiping about. She was assigned to her post to clean Alpha Roman’s room. At first, the head of the cleaning department thought that Hayley would reject cleaning Alpha Roman’s room after the whole embarrassment he made her go through the previous night, but to her surprise, Hayley accepted her role and left to start immediately. Getting to Alpha Roman’s room, it was empty, so Hayley began to clean the room. She was so engrossed with her duty that she wasn't aware of Alpha Roman’s presence behind her. He was looking at her beauty and curvy shape from behind. Hayley wanted to turn around when she saw him extremely close to her, and a gasp escaped her lips as he drew her waist closer to his body and his eyes on her. “I guess the only possession you have is your beautiful face and curvy shape, and I would love to have a taste of you,” Alpha Roman said, his eyes glittering with raw desires.
