Chapter 6 ~Greyson

861 Words
For once I woke up in a good mood and didn’t dread the day. Charlee had skipped breakfast this morning and one of her friends told me where I could ‘accidentally’ run into her. I follow Charlee’s scent throughout the mall I was told she was at, I find her and the girl from the night before walking out of a bridal store. I chat with Charlee for a few minutes just so I’d have an excuse to stare at her. She wasn’t wearing make-up today, though she didn’t need it, her natural beauty was much more stunning. Her blood-red hair was braided over her left shoulder, the color crimson had never looked so beautiful until I saw Charlee. She is wearing a dark, tight, V-neck shirt and it showed quite a bit of cleavage. I asked her to save me a dance at the ball and it made her blush. This little alpha is adorable. As Felix and I left the mall, we walked past Jaren and a blonde girl was hanging on him as her life depended on it. He gave me a dirty look and I shrugged it off. After mine and Charlee’s little encounter, I passed the time walking around town, making myself familiar with everything. If everything goes right tonight with Charlee, hopefully, Hendrick will accept my proposal. When the time came to get ready for the ball I went back to the packhouse and ran into Charlee and her friends. Her friend Carissa wasted no time ushering them both away from me and up the stairs. Charlee looked back at me and shrugged, all I could do was chuckle. I went up to my room right after and came to find out my room was right next to Charlee’s. I grabbed my light grey tux and paired it with a midnight purple tie. I combed back the long top to my undercut, there was a piece of hair toward the front that refused to comb back. Felix told me to leave it as it looked nice. I put on my black oxfords and make my way down to the pack hall. As I shut the door to my room I hear giggling just down the hall. It was Charlee and her friends. I heard her telling the girl with lighter hair how I just stared at her when we first met. She said it was funny and kind of cute. My little alpha thought I was cute, so I chuckled to myself. Charlee looked stunning. She is in a midnight purple, low cut, floor-length dress. The way the fabric fit around her body showed off her beautiful curves. Her long crimson hair was curled and set over her left shoulder, flowing past her breasts, ending at the top of her torso. Her make-up was light and overall any male would be drooling over her. “Take it slow for my sake, I’m out of practice,” Blade says to me. I smirked, “how are you out of practice? I’m sure it hasn’t been that long.” I say back. “You’d be surprised how long it’s been.” When Charlee walked into the hall, she turned her head toward a group of girls. They were whispering to each other while looking at her. I could kind of make out what they were saying. “No wonder her dad ignored her existence.” Says the blonde from the mall, “she isn't even that pretty. Whoever her mate is, I feel bad for him.” Says another and they start to laugh. “If she even has one, The Moon Goddess can’t be that cruel to her children.” The blonde continued. Blade was growling in my head, he shared my anger. I watched my little alpha put her head down and walk a little faster toward her seat next to Hendrick. Hendrick stands up and addresses his pack. “Black Forest and friends from our neighboring pack from the north, we have very special guests tonight for our 180th Anual Mate Ball. Please join me in welcoming King Greyson Jager and his Beta, Felix Adams!” He says with excitement. Everyone started to cheer and howl as Felix and I walked into the hall. I looked at Charlee and smiled, she stood up and just stared at me in astonishment. “Mate,” she says aloud. Gasps came from her pack members, but I paid no mind to them and kept moving forward, toward my mate. I pull Charlee into an embrace and engrave her beautiful heart-shaped face into my mind. “Charlotte, you have no idea how long I’ve searched for you,” I tell her and she finally looks up at me. I start to feel sadness come through our bond, then fear replaces it. Why was she afraid of me? “I’m so sorry Greyson.” She says to me, tears filling her sparkling eyes. The next thing I knew, she slipped her way out of my arms and ran out of the hall, one of her friends chasing after her, leaving me alone and saddened by her impartial rejection.
