Chapter 12 ~ Charlee

1092 Words
As I walked down the stairs from the fourth floor, I got a phone call. I pull out my phone and I have several missed calls from an unknown number. The number calls again and out of curiosity, I answer. “Greyson, where have you been!” Rachel squawks before I even put the phone to my ear. I sigh, “is that any of your business Rachel?” I ask with a condescending tone. “I’m very busy, what do you want?” I add. “I’m here visiting my dad again and your mom said you were gone. I wanted to know when you’d be home.” “That is none of your concern,” I say and hang up. I blocked her number immediately and wondered how she got my new number. I don’t let this dampen my mood though. I have a wonderful mate upstairs and hopefully, that will get Rachel to leave me alone. I continue on my way to the pack hall and I see Felix talking to Charlee’s friend Carissa again. He seems to have taken quite the liking to her. It makes me curious if he is going through the thing I did with Charlee. “Come on lover boy, you can dance with her later,” I said to him over the link. Felix and I walk into the hall and greet Hendrick. Not long after passing him, a little girl with black hair blocks mine and Felix’s path. “You better not break my big sister’s heart or you’ll have to deal with me!” she says with more confidence than I expected. I chuckle and kneel. “I swear, I will not break Charlee’s heart,” I say and I stick out my pinky. The little girl does the same, looking at me with suspicion-filled eyes. We lock pinkies, making the vow valid. She runs back to two she-wolves and waves at me. I stand up just as Charlee walks in. She is wearing an emerald green cocktail dress. Her crimson hair was in a bun and her side-swept bangs framed her heart-shaped face perfectly. Felix and I sit at the bar as we watch Charlee and Carissa dance together. Charlee having a blast during her party lightened my night even more after what we did in her room. The Moon Goddess gave me a blessing. Seeing how lively and charismatic she is, makes me understand why Hendrick chose her to be his heir and why the Moon Goddess chose her to be my mate. Becoming queen will be a breeze for her. "Dude, wake the f**k up," Felix says getting my attention. "I'm sorry, just admiring my mate," I tell him, he rolls his eyes at my response. "Speaking of her, I've been spending some time with the girl she's dancing with." He tells me. "If you break her heart, Charlee will have my ass because that's her best friend." "No, no not like that. Since I met her, I've been so drawn to her and I have no idea why." He tells me, looking at Carissa. "Maybe that's the Moon Goddess's way of saying you guys are mates,'' I tell him, smirking. "Oh please, the Moon Goddess is cryptic but she ain't that cryptic." He says, hitting my arm. We laughed it off and I decided to finally go have a dance with my mate since I didn't get the chance three weeks ago. I down the rest of my drink put the cup on the bar, and walk over to the girls. "Mind if I cut in?" I ask Carissa. She gestures for me to have Charlee and walks over to Felix. A slow song comes on and I look at Charlee. “I believe you still owe me a dance,” I say, giving her a loving smile. I extend my hand and to my surprise, she takes it. Knowing the difference in our height, I lift her so we can be face to face. She giggles knowing why I did it. She smiles at me. “Hi.” She says giggling, “hello my little alpha.” Old habits come back that night after the party. I couldn’t help shifting into Blade and laying outside of Charlee’s door. Being mates, I understand why I was protective over her when we were younger. The next morning I made a few calls back home, wanting to give Charlee a gift. Three weeks later, I hear the familiar sound of my Nissan 370z Nismo pulling up to the packhouse. I will admit when I saw the paint job I had done to change it for Charlee, it surprised me as I had forgotten I had it done. “SO why exactly did I have to pick this up from Wyatt? You drove the 240z up here.” Felix says as he hands me the keys. “Because it’s a git for Charlee, she has her license, but no car. A Queen shouldn’t have to walk everywhere.” “Explains the paint job.” He says and leaves me outside with the car. I examined the paint job and like always Wyatt did an amazing job. The purple color at the front fades to black perfectly as my eyes reach the ass end of the car. The windows are tinted enough that I couldn’t see inside and the black wheels pulled everything together. I mind link Charlee, telling her to come out front after I inspected the interior. I stop her at the front door and have her close her eyes before leading her outside. I stop her in front of the car, placing her in the perfect spot to view the car. “Okay, open your eyes,” I say smiling and watching her emerald eyes light up in excitement at the sight of the car. “Happy Birthday,” I say before she hugs me tight, saying thank you over and over again. “You bought this for me?” She asks as I hand her the keys. “It’s actually from my collection. I had it tuned down a bit to be a daily driver and repainted it for you. I’m extremely happy you like it.” I explained. “I love it!” She exclaims before kissing me on the cheek. “Let’s go for a drive!” She adds, getting in the driver’s seat. I chuckled to myself before getting the passenger seat, I believe I may have found out something new about my mate.
