Chapter Twenty

1356 Words
I must’ve passed out while Klaus was running, because I’m waking up in my bed, with Klaus walking into my room. Allison: “Klaus, what happened? Where are Caroline and Elena?” Klaus: “Caroline ran home after I saved her. Elena has been stored away for safe keeping.” Allison: “What are you talking about? Where did you take Elena?” Klaus: “Easy, Love. I promised you I wouldn’t hurt her and I haven’t. Even though the easiest way to get rid of Alaric would be to kill Elena, I won’t. So she is being held at my home for now.” Nodding, I get off my bed and put a hand on his cheek. Allison: “Thank you, Nik.” Klaus: “You’re welcome. I have some last-minute packing to do. I’ll come get you before nightfall. Do not leave your home until I come to retrieve you.” Allison: “Alright. I’ll be waiting for you.” We hug each other and I kiss his cheek before he leaves. I called Caroline to check in on her. She sounded pretty erratic, and clearly she didn’t want to talk to me. She insisted I not go see her though, after thanking me for being there for her. I found it very odd, considering normally she would want me there to comfort her after a day like we just had. After about an hour or two of packing, I successfully finished, and now I’m just waiting for Klaus to come get me. As I relax on my couch, I hear someone knock on my front door. I answer it, expecting Klaus, but find Sam. Allison: “Sam, what are you doing here? Shouldn’t you be with your pack?” Sam: “Tyler told me what happened. I needed to make sure you were okay.” He comes in, giving me a hug after shutting my door. Allison: “I’m fine. It was terrifying being in that school, but I’m ready to leave with Klaus now.” We walk into the kitchen grabbing the wine. Sam: “Ally, how is that supposed to happen when Klaus is stuck in a box?” I pause, mid-pour, and look up at him, stunned by his words. Allison: “What are you talking about? Why would Klaus be stuck in a box? He’s supposed to come get me so we can leave together.” He takes the wine from my hand, setting it on the counter. Sam: “Tyler called my pack to tell us, Stefan and Damon stabbed Klaus, and Bonnie desiccated him to protect Elena. I thought you’d be upset, so I hurried here to console you.” I shake my head, looking around me to find something to calm myself. Allison: “No, there’s no way. I agreed to leave with him. He’s coming to get me. I even convinced him to leave without Elena, so she’d be protected from him and get to live her life. My friends wouldn’t do this to me.” Sam walks over, pulling me into his embrace. Sam: “Hey, come on. It’s okay. They won’t allow him to actually die, or they will die too. So really, isn’t he just being forced to sleep?” Wrapping my arms around him, I nod, calming my breathing. Allison: “You’re right. He’s not really gone. That means we can save him. [Pushing away from him, I get my phone.] I have to call Elijah.” After letting Elijah know what happened, he gave me his word that he would let me know what happens with the others. Until he lets me know, I’m supposed to stay put for now where it’s safe. I had Sam leave for his own safety. I feel so antsy waiting to hear from Elijah that I jump when someone knocks at my door. Hurrying to answer it, I find Caroline looking scared at my door. Allison: “Care, what’s wrong?” She quickly comes in, clearly panicking. Caroline: “It’s Alaric. He told the Council about all of us. They’re hunting me and Tyler.” Allison: “Oh my god. What are we going to do? We have to get you out of town as fast as possible.” Caroline: “About that, I came to say goodbye. I’m leaving with Tyler. Also, I wanted to tell you something about Klaus.” She looks fearful at me, almost as if she fears I’ll hurt her or something. Allison: “What is it?” Caroline: “Tyler had to save Elena from Klaus. He was going to drain her of all her blood and kill her to get rid of Alaric, so Stefan, Damon, and Bonnie desiccated him instead. Damon is trying to hide his body as we speak.” I shake my head in disbelief. Allison: “There’s no way Klaus would do that. He promised not to hurt anyone I care about.” She holds my hand as she takes a step closer to me. Caroline: “I know he did. That’s why I had hoped not to tell you about this. I thought, since you’re already packed, maybe you’d want to come with me and Tyler?” Allison: “That’s a lot to ask after the info bomb you just dropped. You two need to get out of here. I can’t help you though. The Council will probably suspect me. Once you’re far enough away, let me know, and I’ll join you then. [I can’t help but tear up as I pull her into a hug.] Thank you for telling me about Klaus. Now get out of here.” She nods with tears in her eyes and quickly leaves. As I watch her leave, I hear my phone ringing. I rush over to the coffee table to find Elijah is calling me. Allison - “Elijah, did you get them to tell you anything?” Elijah - “Yes, we made an agreement and Rebekah is on her way to retrieve Niklaus’ body. However, I fear you might not accept the terms.” Allison - “Why would I not accept it? You are getting him back, aren’t you?” Elijah - “I made a deal with Elena to not wake Niklaus for the remainder of her and her future children’s lives. He will be spending the next century in his current state.” I’m stunned beyond belief and can’t bring myself to respond to him. Elijah - “Allison, do you accept the terms?” Allison - “Elijah, I understand how much your word means, and why you would make this deal, but I need some time to make a decision.” Elijah - “I understand how hard this is for you. Just know that if you should decide at any point to become a vampire, and join my siblings and myself, you need only ask.” Allison - “Thank you. I promise to let you know when I make a decision.” I hang up and chug my wine glass, hissing at the burn of the liquor as it goes down my throat. As it warms my stomach, I let the tears start dripping down my cheeks. It feels like the world is crumbling around me. If I stay, I could potentially be used as bait whether for my sister, or friends, or even Klaus and his siblings. I have to leave town. I pull myself together enough to grab my duffle with my weapons and the other with some of my clothes, toiletries, and a couple books, throw them into my car and start making my way out of Mystic Falls. At least I was already packed. Now all that’s left is to figure out where I’m going from here. Just as I’m about to cross the town line, I run over something, causing my tires to pop and swerve off the road. Barely managing to stop before a tree, I shakily step out of my car as I hear footsteps hurrying toward me. I quickly turn to someone putting a bag over my head.
