Jensen POV The meeting

1244 Words
The rest of the day dragged. Slow. Pointless. My mind kept drifting back to Freya—her scent, the way she felt when I pulled her close. Something about her wasn’t right. I mind-linked the pack members nearby, instructing them to set up a meeting with Alpha Warwick for that evening. If something was wrong in his pack… I was going to find out. I was staying about twenty-five minutes from the school at one of our pack-owned hotels. Our hotels catered to everyone—humans, werewolves, witches, even the occasional vampire. Witches and vampires usually kept to themselves, but neutrality kept business strong. The gym in this one was elite. Pack-level equipment—heavy weights, reinforced machines. Built for people like us. To a human, we probably looked intimidating. I was eighteen… but I looked closer to twenty-five. Tall. Built. Years of training carved into my body. When Lucas came through at sixteen, everything changed—strength, size, control. Females went through their own transformation at eighteen. Less bulk, but sharper. Faster. Smarter. Some of them could take me down without hesitation. Ashlee was one of them. My ex. She found her mate when she turned eighteen. No hard feelings. Though I did feel sorry for the poor guy. Suddenly, my chest tightened. A sharp pull. Pain. I froze. Something was wrong. I opened a pack link instantly. What’s going on? Is everyone okay? Most of the pack felt steady. Safe. Then Lawrence’s voice cut through. Boss… something’s off here at Warwick’s place. He and his Beta just got back—completely drunk. Feels wrong. Every instinct in me snapped into place. I moved fast, mind-linking downstairs to have my car ready immediately. I didn’t wait for the lift—I took the stairs, jumping most of them on the way down. By the time I hit the lobby, my pack was already there. Engines running. Waiting. I got in my BMW and took off. Fast. Too fast. “Update”I demanded. I just heard Freya scream, Lawrence said. Rage hit me instantly. I think that bastard’s done something. Give me the word—I’ll go in. Everything in me wanted to say yes. Burn it all down. No, I said sharply. Not yet. My ETA is five minutes. As soon as I’m inside, find her. Make sure she’s safe. I’ll be your distraction. Death would be worth it, Lawrence muttered. No, I growled. It wouldn’t. I pushed the car harder. When I pulled into Warwick’s property, Omegas were already waiting outside. Good. I let my aura roll out. Heavy. Dominant. Unmistakable. They dropped their heads instantly in submission. “Acting Alpha Jensen,” I said coldly. “I’m here to see Alpha Warwick. I don’t wait.” They scrambled. One rushed me straight to his office. As soon as I was alone, I opened the link again. Go. Find her. I’m almost there, Lawrence replied. Kitchen staff were talking. Doesn’t sound good. Rage simmered beneath my skin. Warwick’s office was pathetic. Old stained desk. Rusted filing cabinet. A mounted moose head. A cheap poster of Al Capone. Who the hell did this guy think he was? Five minutes passed. Five too many. The door opened. Warwick walked in, his Beta beside him. Both reeking of cheap bourbon. “Ah… Acting Alpha Jensen,” Warwick said, extending his hand. I took it. Firm. Controlled. His knuckles were swollen. Red. “Alpha Warwick,” I said smoothly. “A pleasure.” It wasn’t. He smirked, glancing at his Beta. “Big lad, isn’t he, James? But the bigger they are—” “—the harder they fall,” James finished. Lucas stirred. There’s something wrong. I can’t feel their wolves. That stopped me cold. If a wolf lost their spirit, it meant the Moon Goddess had taken it—for what they’d done. Most went mad after that. Looking at them now… That tracked. “Looks like you’ve had a run-in,” I said casually, nodding toward Warwick’s hand. “One of your pack step out of line?” He laughed. Actually laughed. “Women should know their place,” he said. “When they forget… they need reminding.” Lucas snapped. I barely held him back. “If you say so,” I replied tightly. “Your pack, your rules.” For now. “Let’s get to business.” I’m almost at her room… I need more time, Lawrence said. Take it, I replied. Warwick poured himself a drink. “What’s your offer, boy?” “My father wants to discuss alliances,” I said evenly. “Trade. Land development. Mutual benefit.” He leaned back. “What’s in it for me?” “A fair mate agreement,” I said. “Lower-ranking wolves follow the higher-ranking mate. Standard across most packs.” I didn’t give him time to interrupt. “We’d also like to build on the border of your land. A sister hotel. You’d receive twenty percent of profits in exchange for patrol support.” His eyes narrowed. Interested. Greedy. “And lastly,” I added, “I’ll be taking the Alpha position soon. I’ll need a Luna.” I held his gaze. “Your daughter would be well-treated. Respected. Protected.” James tensed. Warwick smirked. “I like you, kid. Straight to the point.” Then his expression shifted. Cold. “Mate agreements are fine. Thirty-five percent on the land deal. You pay my men.” Of course. “As for my daughter…” Something in me went still. “She’s already promised,” he said casually. “James here will break her in once she Turns.” Everything inside me snapped. “And if the price is right?” he added. “An Alpha-born virgin would fetch quite a bit.” James exploded. “You promised her to me!” I stopped listening. “Lawrence?” “I’ve got her,”he said instantly. She’s in bad shape. I’m taking her out. “Michael,” I barked through the link. “Get to them. Now. Stop anyone who interferes.” Pause. “Within reason.” “Yes, Alpha.” I stood. “Gentlemen,” I said calmly, “I’ll leave you to consider my proposal. I’ll send through formal documents.” I shook their hands. Walked to the door. “Alpha Jensen,” Warwick called. I paused. “I know it was your scent on my daughter.” Lucas surged forward. Control snapped. In an instant, we had both men by the throat. Lifted up with Claws pressed into their skin. “Careful,” Lucas said, voice low and lethal. “You don’t want to threaten us again.” He inhaled sharply. Wrinkled his nose. “Rotten. Both of you.” He threw them aside like nothing. Then turned and walked out. As we moved through the house, I noticed an Omega standing still, staring at me. Not afraid. Grateful. “Thank you,” she whispered. “What’s your name?” I asked. “Sarah.” “You can come with us,” I said. “Freya will need support.” Her eyes filled instantly. “I have nothing left,” she whispered. “Then come.” She didn’t hesitate. By the time we reached the car, she was already running. “Hospital,” I said, starting the engine. My grip tightened on the wheel. “Freya’s not safe here anymore.” And neither was anyone else.
