Chapter 17: Sending Princess to the Temple

The next day, Princess Aina prepared for her trip going to the temple on the mountain. That temple was located outside the kingdom, and part of the deserted land which no kingdom acquired due to mystery, danger from beasts and inhabitable land.

A golden carriage was prepared for her, and fifty armed soldiers were coming with her. There was also one mage coming with her, Dwight, the sword master and metal element controller.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"I think this is an exaggeration," she said. "Why do I need fifty soldiers just to transport me to the mountain?"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Princess Aina, that mountainous area is dangerous. There are wild beasts and bandits roaming around. We need to protect you and make sure you're safe. You are the future of our kingdom," Dwight explained,
"but no need to risk the lives of fifty men just for my safety," she protested. I think we won't get too much attention if there were only a few people coming with me."

"You have a point there, Princess, but still we are just following the king's order or else we will lose our head." Dwight bowed, waiting for the princess' response.

She took a deep breath. "Fine. Let's go." She hopped into the carriage, large enough to have a private space to sleep. Dwight sat near the chauffeur.

"What's being a princess anyway if I am the weakest in the Maho kingdom?" She sighed.

The carriage started moving. There were thirty soldiers in front and twenty at the back, not complaining while walking along with the carriage.

She peeked at the window. "Are they going to walk up to the mountain?" Her jaw dropped while still observing the soldiers. "I just don't get the inequality. This isn't right. Don't they have flying power or anything to make it easier for them to move from one place to another? Is there a magic carpet, perhaps?" There was another carriage behind them where her belongings were loaded.

She sat properly and thought about things around her. "Ideal things are totally different from the reality of life."

The long journey started as the carriage continued moving to the mountain.
"Princess, you can sleep for now. I will wake you up after a few hours. It will take us five to six hours before reaching the foot of the mountain. From there, our soldier will transport you using the shoulder carriage," Dwight explained from outside, his voice was a little louder so the princess could hear him.
She could not believe it. "The carriage can't make it to the top?"

"It's not possible, Princess Aina."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Okay, let me just go to sleep then." She can't do anything but lie down and take a nap. She doesn't want to be an additional burden to them. "Wake me up once we're at the foot of that deserted mountain."

"Yes, I will, Princess Aina." Dwight sighed. He knows the kindness of the princess. She was a little spoiled but she has a kind heart.

The sun was set, they reached the foot of the mountain after six hours of moving. The soldiers felt tired and exhausted.

"Princess Aina, we are already at the foot of the mountain," Dwight woke up the princess. "It's time for you to transfer to the shoulder carriage. Our men will carry you."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She opened her eyes and rubbed them using her hands."It's already dark. I think it's more dangerous if we go through the mountain at night." She peeked through the carriage's window. "They are all exhausted. They need rest. Let us all rest for now and continue the journey tomorrow. We are not in a rush."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"But, princess..." Dwight wanted to protest, but the princess is right. Their soldiers won't be able to fight if there were an attack from the beasts or bandits. "Okay then. We will all take a rest for tonight." He bowed to the princess and went out of the carriage to inform the soldiers to take a rest tonight.
