Chapter 30

486 Words
The soldiers became alert after the golden light disappeared. "That's probably the queen. Capture them!" The general instructed his men. A group of powerful soldiers ran towards the direction where they saw the golden light coming from. "Go, Soira. Save my son. Protect him at all costs. He is the future of Maho." She pushed her maiden a little. "Go." She hesitated, but the queen's word was the law of the kingdom. She was the only queen she recognized and respected. Those traitors would never be the same like the queen's kindness and courage. "Please, be safe, Your Highness." She held the queen's hand. "I trust you not just as my maiden, but also as my dear friend." She removed her necklace with a golden teardrop pendant. "Keep this until he is at the right age. Teach him how to use it. Break it once he reaches eighteen and merge the power to him." "I will, Your Highness." Tears fell on her cheeks. The queen hugged her, then turned around to face the soldiers. "Go!" Soira ran with the little prince, not looking back where she came from. She felt the surge of energy from the queen, giving her all to protect her son. "My queen," she said while running. She reached the border of the Maho kingdom and the desolate world, the desert part where only the strongest traders and adventurers can pass by because of danger and the weather condition. It was hot and the humidity was high. "Glad I have the power of the wind. I can protect the prince and cross the desert as long as I am awake." She used her power to envelop her and the prince, protecting both of them from scorching hot desert weather of the desert. She started flying to cross to the other side of the desolate world, who knows what is waiting for them there. "Protect your guardian, dear gods of Maho, don't let him suffer in the desert. Let us pass by without any obstacles," she said while continuously flying. It seems it was an endless desert everywhere, only seeing sand for hours. She can feel her body starting to get weak, as she used most of her energy in flying and protecting both of them from the heat of the sun and the humid air. "Give me a little more power to cross the desert, gods of Maho. I beg you..." she murmured while flying slowly. She was about to fall when she felt a surge of power from the little prince. A gold energy released from his body that gave her more strength. She smiled and hugged the little prince tighter. "You really are the future of Maho. I will protect you for as long as I can. I will be your mother from now on." She kissed his forehead, then she flew faster to continue the journey towards the foreign land.
