Chapter 22 Just Call Me Aina

"Devan!" Aina called from behind. She went back to the pond.

"Why are you here? I thought Master Wolf wanted to sew you?"

"He just checked if my power was okay, then sent me to my room. I don't want to stay there, it's too early." She grinned. "Why are you still here?"

"I'm just thinking about a lot of things," he replied.

"What powers do you have? Can you show me?" Aina asked curiously.

"I am a wind controller and..." He stopped speaking. He was not allowed to tell anyone about his other powers. "That's it. I can't show it to you yet because they banned me from using my power for one month. I almost died the other day."

"Oh... Do you also have unstable power like me?"

"Something like that." He gave her an awkward smile. "I guess all kids who have unstable powers train here."

"Not all," Alec said from behind. They both looked behind them.

"Not all? Who can train here then?" Princess Aina asked.

"Only those special ones with special powers. Besides, it's not common to have powerful kids around." He gave them a quick glance. "Just like you two, kids. You are both powerful and unique." Alec turned around. "What kind of fate do you have? Life is really weird sometimes." He slowly walked away without making any noises.

"What does he mean?" Princess Aina asked. She gave him a puzzled look and frowned.

Devan shrugged. "Not sure. He is mysterious like Master Wolf. They are actually alike."

"Well, anyway, let me show you my power." Aina stood up and prepared.

"What power do you have?" he asked.

"I don't know. Just small things that a normal mage can do." She snapped her fingers, the small stones around Devan flew, but they became unstable and dropped. "I can do it but I can't control it." She sat on the ground and pouted her lips, almost about to cry.

"Hey! Don't cry. We're here to train, right? Be patient," he said to calm the princess.

"Why am I weak? I am supposed to be the princess." She placed her hand on her chin. Her face looked glum.

"Don't worry. Master Wolf is a great teacher. He will surely help us to learn faster." He offered his hand to help Aina stand up. "Come. I will show you around the temple and the community."

Aina reached for his hand. "Thank you."

"You're welcome, Princess."
