Chapter 24 Getting Closer

They reached the end of the hallway of the temple. Master Wolf faced the wall designed with murals an placed his hand on it. The wall moved and slid sideward. "Get in."

Devan and Princess Aina entered. They looked around the huge, dark room. Master Wolf snapped his fingers that lit the candles around the room.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
There was an elevated round stage in the middle of the room and it has designs that Devan could not understand.

"Follow me." Master Wolf stood in the middle of the platform. The two followed him and stood in front of him. "Sit down and relax." He sat down first and the two kids followed him.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Now, place your hands on top of your knees and close your eyes." He did what he instructed, Devan and princess followed him. "I want you both to clear your minds, remove any thoughts and worries, and focus on your qi energy and find your center."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Devan did what he was told. He stopped thinking and let his mind flow through her veins, feeling his energy and finding his center. He felt the strong, hot energy in his abdomen, just right below his navel area.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"After finding your center, make it flow through your veins slowly and calmly. Do not think about anything else," Master Wolf just whispered, but they both heard what he said, loud and clear.

Devan followed his instruction, and made the energy he felt to run through his veins. He felt hot and cold at the same time. He could not understand it, but it felt good.

Princess Aina was different. She was having a hard time concentrating because thoughts of being weak with unstable power kept crossing her mind. Sweat flowed on her forehead.

"Princess, you won't succeed in life if you will keep on thinking about your failures and swim in your weaknesses. You need to stop thinking as what I instructed you," Master Wolf said.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Y-yes, Master Wolf." She tried clearing her mind again and focused on the training.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Do this all day. Continue practicing in this chamber and do not stop until you made your energy flow in your body naturally." Master Wolf stood up. "No dinner for you if you fail to do so."

"That was cruel," Princess Aina said. She pouted while her eyes were closed.

Devan opened his eyes. "You need to follow Master Wolf and stop thinking about other things."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"How do you do that?" she asked, "I can't stop thinking. I think my brain was trained to think all of the time."

Devan looked up to think about the things that made him happy. "Do you have any happy thoughts? For example, hanging around with friends, or bonding with your family."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Aina kept quiet for a while to think of happy thoughts in the past. "I think my most happy memories was when I was younger, around three or four? My Mom used to tell me stories before going to bed. It stopped when the kingdom needs help and aid from time to time." She looked down, she felt tears forming in her eyes. "They are both busy governing the entire capital. Problems arise every now and then. I rarely see my father. I sometimes see him once a week for a few minutes. My mother is the same. I am mostly bonding with the Royal Mages, specifically Dwight."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Your parents are the kingdom's parents, too. They are busy taklng care of their children, but it doesn't mean they have less love for you. Maybe they think you could manage being independent because they trust you that much," Devan explained. "You are just twelve, yet you lead your soldiers going here. That's rare."

"It wasn't me, it was Dwight."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"He still followed your order, correct?"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She nodded.

"See?" He smiled. "Cheer up and think about the things you did correctly as a young adult."

"Okay, I will." She fixed her posture and closed her eyes again. She thought of her training and hard work in the past, her lessons and her practices. She always gave her all and never surrendered. She miled. Her heart filled with hopes and dreams. Her energy started to flow through her blood. It was smooth and calm, like the water in the river.

Devan was smiling while watching the princess succeeding her training. His eyes only see one thing; the princess is beautiful inside and out. He heard his heart beat, it was faint but quite fast beat that he just felt the first time in his life.
