“You should wear the green one, honey; it matches your eyes,” my mother insists as she helps me get ready for my date. She has been stuck up my butt since I got the bruises from my dad. Neither of us has told her because we both know she would pack up and leave his ass the second we did. But she isn't stupid, and she knows I didn't get it by falling. I hope she doesn't think it was one of the guys. God only knows what my dad told her. He probably blamed it on Tyler. But either way, she is here helping me get ready for my date with Dan, which I am thankful for. I didn't dress up for my date with Ash or Tyler, mainly because you can't really dress up for the fair, and Tyler's date was on a whim. For the date with Dan, I want to do it right.
