"We're short one person for this thing," Trinity announces. Dan's eyes slide over to me, and a smirk forms on his lips. "What about you, kitten?" I totally spaced out after Trinity started talking about teams. "What about me?" "Are you up for it?" "For what?" He rolls his eyes, realizing I wasn't paying attention at all and off in a dream world as always, "Up for filling in for Brittney since she couldn't come." “Um, I guess, but I've never done it before... what am I supposed to do?" Trinity looks at me skeptically. I look at Dan for guidance here and he just smiles that damn smile and nods yes. "All she has to do is aim and fire. It's not rocket science, Trinity; it's just paintball. Kitten, no biggy; just have fun and last for as long as you can." "Okay, sure, it could be fun." 20 min. Later, I'm in a black sweatsuit while Dan tries to explain to me how the gun works. "The paintballs are all loaded in this canister. This is your safety switch. Don't take it off until you are ready to shoot. This is your site. Just line this dot up between those two lines directly over the target. When you are ready, take off the safety and pull the trigger. Okay, really simple." "How bad does it hurt? " I'm well aware that I most likely won't last over two seconds, and they will sacrifice me for the god of the team. So a paintball will hit me soon. I just rarely do well with pain. "It's not that bad, kitten. Just try to stay undercover or by one of us, and you will be fine." "Why do I have a bad feeling about all this?" "Because you, my Kitten, are a natural-born fail-est." Damn that smile... "Okay, yeah, you got me there." I'm all suited up and ready to go. I just follow everyone out onto a huge field out back. I can see the other school walking to the other side of the field, getting ready to start. Tyler is walking beside me with his gun over his shoulder, all in black, big black boots, and his eyebrow-piercing shines in the setting sunlight. He looks like a dark angel, his dirty blond hair like a halo over his head. Too bad it's all lies. His clothes are like a second skin. He isn't as built as Dan, but damn, he still has a nice profile, nice abs, and wow, a nice ass! "Enjoying the view, Samipoo?" s**t! Busted! "I..i.. was just wondering, umm, how do we know when the game starts?" His sly, crooked smile makes my knees weak, and I almost trip on air before I realize he's speaking to me. "It starts when the sun is officially set, princess; we are almost to the course." "The course?" As the word exits my mouth, we walk through the end of the tall grass and onto an old wooden playground, with a teeter-totter, monkey bars, a carousel, a moving bridge, and all. Tyler suddenly grabs my arm to pull me over behind a tall wooden wall, shoving me to the ground. "Just stay here, princess; I'll try to keep them away from you. " "why? You don't think I'll be able to help?" "Would you?" "I don't know, but why would you keep them away from me?" "Fine, whatever, get shot. I was just trying to help you out." "Don't get all mad at me. I was just asking a question, jerk." Tyler laughs at me, looks me in the eye with those big blue oceans, and says, "Trust me, princess, if I'm mad at you, you will know it." He moves just a little closer to me, and his cologne sends a jolt to my core, exciting my inner slut in me to wake up and take notice. His calloused hand comes close to my face. I think he may grab me and kiss me. He is so close! Wishful thinking, dumbass! But he just tucks my loose hair behind my ear, his big blue eyes staring into mine, and that damn crooked smile. "Don't get shot, Samiipoo; I wouldn't want that perfect porcelain skin to get bruised- yet". With that, he gets up and walks into the bushes near an old water fountain, completely out of sight. A whistle sounds off in the distance. Here we go... I heard shots fired for about ten minutes. People jump and tumble on and around the park set beside me. As much as I hate to admit how scared I am, I don't move. I haven't left the spot Tyler placed me in and don't plan to. When the commotion dies down to an eerie quiet, I suspect the game is over and everyone forgot about me again. I take a slow peek over my wall and see a guy in a gray hoodie and jeans stalking around. He walks slowly and with no sound at all. He is good. No wonder he lasted this long. Looking around, I don't see any other players around us, even if it is completely black outside at this point. The sun is completely gone, lighting the night with only the moon. I take advantage of my hiding place and prepare my shot. The wood chips crunch under my belly, but I go slow so as not to give away my location. I follow Dan's instructions, lining up the sight at the end of my barrel with the two up close to my face. Resting the handle on my shoulder/armpit. I line all of it up to the guy's body, take the safety off, and pull. POP! The sound echoes through the clearing. The satisfaction of hearing the guy's hard grunt is indescribable. "f**k! She got me; I'm out!" He yells to no one. Hoots and hollers sound from the trees. Everyone had paint splattered on them. Some more than others. Poor Jerry looks like an easel in a kindergarten art room. Paint of all colors covering his back, front, legs, and arms. "Hey Jerry, what's happening?" "We won! Woop! Woop!" I scream as someone comes up from behind me, scooping me up into the air. "Way to go, Kitten! f**k yes! I knew it was a good idea to get you out here." "Dan! Put me down! What are you doing?" He settles me on the ground and gives me a big hug, smearing purple paint from his chest onto my face. "You won the game for us." "I did?" "Nice shooting princess, or should I say nice hiding?" Tyler sashays up to us with a goofy grin and green paint all over his perfect blond hair. "Haha, thanks for hiding me in the first place, captain." "Hmm, captain?" A dark look shadows his face before the smirk comes back. "Hey, lay off Ty; she still shot him, which is more than you can say. You were out within the first five minutes." "I was covering your back, Mr. Oh, ima go in head first and paint balloon their base," Tyler mocks Dan's leading skills during the game. "It worked!" Dan laughs. "After you sacrificed me to stay behind and take all the blows for you, Lucky me, Candy took a suicide paint bomb, getting my revenge for me." "Ya, not the sharpest tool in the shed, that one. She was supposed to throw it at me, not stick it between her t**s and slam into me like a linebacker." Dan shakes his head, walking away from the field. The boys go on about the other teams' fuckups and our own team's victory. I can't believe I actually helped the team win. Maybe I am good at something other than book stuff. "Ouch!" A paintball hits me square in the butt. "Tyler! What happened to you not wanting me bruised!?" "I never said that." He comes up to me, whispering in my ear, "I just want to be the only one leaving bruises on that pale white skin of yours." I think I just forgot how to breathe. These guys are going to kill me with s****l frustration.
