THE SECRET MEETING

ADRIANS’S POV
I got woken up by one of the maids
“Good morning sir Adrian, you told me to wake you up very early today, that you have a meeting to attend to” she said bowing her head
“Good morning you can go”I said
“Ok sir Adrian”
The first thing I did was to pick up my phone to text Selena and lucky for me she was online
Me- Good morning beautiful
Selena-Good morning and also please do not call me that it’s weird
Me- oh I’m sorry bout that, so how bout our “little secret meeting?”
Selena- I’ll think about it
Me- I know you’re just teasing me but no problem I’m here
Selena- do you know what? Surprise me let me see what you can come up with, byeee
Me- okay
She went offline and I kept smiling ear to ear
AT THE DINING TABLE
“Well, I think it’s been quite some time we sat as a family and had a proper discussion” my dad said
“Think about it” my mum replied
“So son, how's school, what's university like?”
“It’s quite good I guess” I shrugged
“Because of school you’ve been missing some time at the office, you know Adrian you’re the one meant to inherit some of my properties when I’m gone and you don’t even know anything at all happening in the company” my dad said dropping his spoon
“Well I can take some off days if you want dad”
“ I would really love that son, now I have to get to work see you soon”
“Your dad..”my mum said
“Dad did what? Mum you’re scaring me you’ve been acting really creepy this past few days”I replied
She dropped her spoon then walked out of the dining room without saying anything
“What’s going on in this house? Well I don’t care I have a date to plan” I said smiling
AT SCHOOL
“Hi Liam” I told Liam hugging him
“Wassup dude you look a lil bit happy today tell me what’s happening”Liam said smiling at me
“I asked Selena out”
“You did what??, you’re trying to get yourself killed, what if your dad finds out and also don’t you think it’s a little bit early to be asking her out?”
“No Liam, we are adults I’m sure about this ok? All I need you to is to trust me and hope everything goes according to plan”
“Ok sure I trust you, I have to get to class see you later”
“Sure man”
After classes I texted Selena
Me- are you still coming?
Selena- yea I am
Me- ok that’s great meet me at the university’s cafe
I rushed to the cafe, on the way I bought some balloons and a pair of necklace for her
I waited for a while then she came
Are you waiting for someone?”
I looked up and saw Selena standing in front of me.
“Yeah, actually. My secret friend,” I replied.
She rolled her eyes and sat down.
“You’re so annoying.”
“Yet you still came.”
She smiled.
“Unfortunately.”
We both laughed.
A waiter came over and handed us the menus.
“What do you want?” I asked.
“I’ll just get a milkshake and some fries.”
“That’s it?”
“Yes, Adrian. Not everyone eats like you.”
I laughed.
“Okay, I’ll get a burger.”
We talked for a while, we talked about school, our childhood memories and most importantly our families
Suddenly she became quiet
“What” I asked
“Does your family ever talk about mine” she said
“Why do you ask”
“Just answer the question Adrian”she glared at me
“Well sometimes they do, is there anything wrong”
“What do they say”
“That the Moreau’s can’t be trusted”
“My family says the same thing about yours too”
“Basically both of our families think they’re both evil”
“Pretty much” she laughed
“My dad once told me something about your family, he said your family destroyed mine”
“Destroyed yours, what does that mean?”
“I don’t know he didn’t explain any further”
Did he say anything else?”
Before she could answer, her phone started ringing.
She looked at the screen and immediately became nervous.
“Who is it?”
“My dad.”
She quickly answered.
“Hello, Dad?”
I couldn’t hear what he was saying, but I could tell from her expression that something was wrong.
“Yes, I’m fine.”
She glanced at me.
“I’ll be home soon.”
She ended the call and put her phone away.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah. I just have to go.”
She stood up.
“Already?”
“I’m sorry. I’ll explain another time.”
“Selena..”
I held her hand
“You know you can tell me anything despite everything that’s going on around us..”
“Adrian you won’t understand please let go of me”
“Selena..”
“I understand where you’re coming from Adrian, but for our safety we need to stay away from each other I can’t risk losing you”
“Losing me? What do you mean”
“It’s nothing”
I left go of her hand
She smiled slightly before walking away.
And I wasn’t able to able to give her the necklace I bought for her
“I can’t risk losing you”
I couldn’t help smiling and quietly put the necklace in my pocket excited to give her the next time I see her
I couldn’t stop thinking about what she said. My family destroyed hers. How?

When I got home, I walked through the front door and immediately noticed how quiet the house was.
“Mum?”
No one answered
“Mummmmm” I shouted
I walked into the living room and froze.
My mum was sitting on the couch.
She was staring directly at me.
“Where have you been?”
I swallowed.
“Out.”
“Out where?”
“With a friend.”
She stood up slowly.
“A friend?”
“Yeah.”
She stared at me for a few seconds.
Then she asked something that made my heart drop.
“You weren’t with a Moreau, were you?”
