Start of Something New

The hall was packed with many guests in their beautiful dresses and suits for the event. Soft melody of an orchestra playing in the corner, small chatters heard across the venue. Yuzu smile in delight to see everyone she and Mei knew are there to support them. But she's curious to why she's sitting with them instead of preparing herself for their wedding. Eyes widen in surprise to see Udagawa-san standing proud at the altar as the wedding song starts. There she saw walking down the aisle was her wife, alongside her grandfather with those eyes staring straight to Yuzu as if telling her to back off and enjoy the show. She felt like crying, she married Mei. This must be a joke, she tries to shout but then-

"MEI!" Yuzu suddenly awaken up, thin sheets of sweat visible on her forehead. She looks around to see if she's only having a nightmare when out of curious is where is she? The room decorated in a beach theme style and she heard waves of the ocean nearby. "Yuzu?" A familiar feminine voice said across the dimly light room. Yuzu looked at her and tries not to think that she's only seeing things. Mei slowly went to sit down on their shared bed while Yuzu tries to reach Mei's face with a trembling hand as she leans to Yuzu's that caressed her cheek. "Are you... really here?" The blonde asked. Scared to find out that maybe she's dreaming again and that when she wake up for real, Mei is not there with her on their empty room back in their mother's house. "I just went to get some water. Did you have another nightmare?" Yuzu didn't reply, she simple stares the woman she fell in love with over and over. Mei sighs and went to hug her lover, Yuzu has been having series of nightmares lately that's why she suggested that it's time to go to their postpone honeymoon after two years. The blonde on the other hand hugs back, letting her tears to flow and her sobs fills the room. Then Yuzu abruptly let go from the warm hug as she started to ramble and panic. "Oh gosh, what time is it? Did I already passed my projects? Did I forget it? Oh no, I can't let this happen!" Yuzu quickly stand up and rush to the study table looking for her school things when Mei immediately stops the panicking blonde. "Yuzu." Mei can tell that her wife flicks from her Student President tone, sometimes it's good to know that she still have that effect on her. But these days isn't the good time because every time she use that tone, Yuzu stood up straight hiding her nervousness and trembling hands. She tries it again, softer this time. "Yuzu. It's summer. Last semester ends a week ago." Yuzu slowly turn to face the raven haired woman then blushes. Mei was in her silk nightgown, and her curves are visible as the moonlight seeping through the open windows then a cold breeze blows that makes the Aihara heiress looks like an angel. Blushing hard, she saw Mei suddenly looks away and saw that her ears turn red trying to hide her blush. The raven haired woman turn her back to get the identical silk nightgown and gave it to the still curious blonde when suddenly Yuzu blushes hard as realization hits her. "Wear this, you might catch a cold." Yuzu grab the clothing and turn her back still blushing madly. "Yuzu." Mei asked in a caring voice. Hugging the blonde from behind, arms are entwining with Mei's hands cupping her wife's, their rings are visible to its rightful place.

Flashback

Before the semester ends, Mei and Yuzu went to visit their family to have a small gathering. That time after they ate dinner at a fancy restaurant courtesy of Sho. Mei excused herself to take the bathroom then Ume insisted to tag along. Leaving Sho, Yuzu and Mei's grandfather. While waiting for the two, the trio went on a smooth conversation mostly about school and work. Then the older Aihara reminds Yuzu about their deal that as long as Yuzu shown dedication to her studies and part time job, he will leave them to live their life. Earning their own money in able to feed for themselves and pay for the apartment rent, bills and buy foods. Sho was angered about it that his father shouldn't pushed the blonde so much. Sure Yuzu and her mom isn't as much rich as the Aihara but both believe that earning their own money with hard work is more worth it. Both Ume and Mei came back shortly when Yuzu excused herself to breathe in some fresh air. Leaving both women confused, staring at the Aihara father and son who are in a silent heated staring competition. After the small gathering Mei saw that something's off from her wife but she ignores it at first. Until it was frequently happening than usual, seeing Yuzu doubled up her hard work both in her academics and work to the point she almost killed herself. Last week when the grades was announced, of course Mei was so proud of her wife as she made to the top 3 in her course. As she looked at her, seeing that Yuzu looks like she's suffocating. Immediately pulling her wife somewhere more private, she was surprise when Yuzu gave out and breakdown. Mei didn't know what was happening to her wife and was has been stressing her out, letting the blonde to weep as she hugs her and rubbing her back. She made a mental note to call her grandfather later that day. Then, Mei found out that her grandfather simple reminded Yuzu about their little deal which Mei almost scolded him. Sure, she loves it when Yuzu tries her best to study hard and earn money to support them both. But what happened for the past few weeks, has been a torture for both of them. Seeing the blonde less energetic, looking like a walking dead zombie, countless black coffee drinks trashed around the blonde's study table and the time when she was called by the university's clinic to see her wife unconscious resting on one of the clinic beds informing her that Yuzu fainted from overfatigue. That's when she decided to take the summer break as the re-scheduled honeymoon. It was also her reward for her wife after all of her hard works has been paid off. She knew Yuzu deserve this, so going on the whole summer with her without any work or college to worry about.

End of Flashback

Mei still hugging her wife from behind, she whispers to her ear. "Let's go back to bed. It's still dawn and we have plans to fulfill." slightly tugging Yuzu's hands, they both went to bed. Trying hard in believing that she's not dreaming, she slap her cheeks which surprises Mei. Yuzu keeps staring at her wife like an eagle, keeping herself to stay awake as long as she can. Still afraid that when she woke up, Mei won't be there. As if reading her mind, Mei scooted herself to snuggle in her wife's warm body. She gives her pepper kisses all over her face, then her neck and Mei smiled to see that her wife slowly relaxing they let the darkness succumb them to a dreamless sleep.

The next morning

The smell of sweet aroma wake Yuzu up. Rises from her slumber, she saw her wife's side of the bed empty. Rubbing her eyes, she went to the kitchen and saw Mei cooking breakfast. Yuzu can't help but smile when she saw that the table was also set with table napkins, cutlery, and a candle at the center. She panics when she saw Mei was done cooking, taking off the apron while approaching to their bedroom. Yuzu rushes back inside and lay in the bed trying her best to look like she's still sleeping. Mei entered the room to see her wife still sound asleep, smiling she gently kiss Yuzu's forehead to wake her up. "Yuzu. Come on, breakfast is ready." The blond yawns and stretch like a cat. "Good morning, wifey!" Grinning to her raven haired wife she tackled her in a warm embrace. With a sinister smirk, the blonde tickled her wife trying to make the raven haired woman to giggle. "Yu...zu..." Trying not to give in Mei struggles to breath, it was unfair of Yuzu who continues her ministration. "Come on Mei, don't hesitate I wanted to hear your angelic laughter." Laughing on her own when Mei was giving in. Not too long, the room fills a series of beautiful giggles that's when Yuzu finally let her wife to steady her breathing back. Glaring at the smiling blonde, her frown turn into a smile and sighs, smiling back as well. "Yuzu, let's eat before it gets cold." Mei stands up guiding her blonde lover on her feet as they both went to the dining table and eat. While eating peacefully, Mei asked her wife about their plans for that day. "What are you planning to do today?" Putting down her cutlery as she stares at Yuzu. The blonde did the same as she thinks of what they can do to fill in the day. Remembering one time when she, Mei, Himeko and Harumi went to Bearland. They enjoyed that day but Yuzu wants another moment, just her and her wife.

Flashback

Entering through the entrance of Bearland, Yuzu was walking alongside Mei while Harumi was with Himeko. Mei stops when she saw Bearian, the bear mascot swarming with children asking to take pictures with him as if she wanted to take pictures too. Battling with her thoughts whether she should do it or not unaware that Himeko saw her staring the mascot that also caught Yuzu's and Harumi's attention. Yuzu eyeing her fiancé with adoration when Harumi spoiled the moment. "Does Prez likes Bearian?" Startled her other three companions, Mei abruptly turn away and keeps walking returning her attention to the handheld book saying "No. I don't. Let's go." The three left in amused, whispering about what just happened. Yuzu can't helped it but stares at her fiancé, with a plan in mind to bring Mei again to Bearland.

End of Flashback

Waiting for her blonde lover, she saw a smile creeping on Yuzu's face. "I know where we can go. Let's finish eating and prepare for our departure." She went back to eating her breakfast leaving Mei in wonder where is this place that her wife had in mind.

After an hour, Mei widen her eyes to see where they are. She looks at Yuzu to see she's staring back smiling to her. "Why here?" The raven haired woman asked. "Well, what good way to spend the day with you. Besides you didn't got the chance to take pictures with Bearian." Still smiling, she saw Mei trying her best to hide her blush. "Come on, Bearian is waiting for you." Yuzu tugs her to get near the mascot, Mei has that adoration face when Yuzu did something for her. After waiting to get their turn, Yuzu guides her wife beside Bearian as she was the one who took pictures for Mei to treasure that moment. "Yuzu, come here." Embarrassed for how childish she thinks of it taking pictures with Bearian but she keeps reminding herself of what her wife told her about to enjoy life and live freely. Yuzu joined in the pictures, doing selfies and asking some people to take their pictures with bearian.

Walking down to the game booths, Yuzu saw a teddy bear hanging on one of the booth's game which it was about trying to shot the rings on those bottles. With her will power to win the bear for her wife, she went to play the game. Mei watch beside her as she tries to shot at least three rings on random bottles. Cheering in victory, Yuzu did win her wife the bear in her amusement seeing Mei smiling and blushing as she receives the price. After spending their time walking around, they decided to ate something for lunch. Mei patiently waiting for her wife to return after excusing herself to go to the bathroom, she nurse her remaining drink with the bear on her lap when she saw Yuzu talking to a young girl holding the little girl's hand. Yuzu approached her wife and explains on why she have a child. "I saw her alone nearby the restroom. Let's go see the guards if her mother was looking for her." The blonde explains as she carries the child. Mei nods in acknowledgement and accompany her wife with the child. Not a moment after, the child saw her mother talking to one of the guards and yelled to captures her mom's attention. The mother turns around as she hears her child, the child let go from Yuzu's grasps and runs to her mom. Yuzu smiling to see the mother and daughter reunited, unbeknown to her Mei was also looking at her with a smile plastered on her face. 'Yuzu will be a great mom someday.' Mei thought. Sure they are married for two years now after they graduated high school and decided that it's time for them to be wed. They both went to the same university, much to their relief that they don't have to problem being away from one another. They live in together in an apartment, a nice space for two and a train away from their university. Having children of their own is still out of the picture because; 1.) Mei was expected to run the academy after she graduates college and 2.) They both still didn't plan yet on having a family of their own because they are still too young and has a lot of responsibilities to fulfill first. Also, Mei wants to make everything to be perfect when time comes as they plan to have a family. But there's no harm to think about it. Yuzu then bows to the mother and at the guard who also bows in gratitude turning her gaze back to her wife seeing those violet orbs smiling at her. Slowly approaching her wife, she hugs her "What ya thinking wifey?" Facing Mei, she saw the other blushes as red crawls to Mei's ears. Yuzu giggles at the sight, not one bit she will ever get tired to see Mei blushing. They enjoy the day riding extreme rides like the roller coaster, surf dance and even boomerang. Seeing that Mei might be dizzy, they went back to the game booths to win more games before its time to go home. Yuzu will surely treasure her moments with her wife, knowing that it wasn't a dream. That she and Mei got the happy ending they both deserve. Mei will also keep it in her heart of how lucky she is to be with someone as loving and caring as Yuzu. She would rather be where she truly belongs than to a loveless arranged marriage that she once ever thought of her life will be.

Both freshly bathe and laying on their bed, Mei snuggled closely to the blonde as she keeps staring those beautiful emerald eyes she fell in love with. Yuzu stares back to her angel for a wife to see how content she is. "I love you, Yuzu." Mei was able to say those words with no longer hesitation just like the very first time she ever say those magic words to the blonde. Yuzu was overwhelmed with emotions because she rarely hears her lover to manage saying those magic words. And each time it happens, her heart flutters and beating so fast against her ribcage. Smiling brightly, "I love you too, Mei." She leans in to her wife's face to kiss her with passion.

Yuzu will always keep reminding herself that no matter how hard the challenges she may face in the future, as long as she's with Mei, she can conquer anything just so to proven herself worthy for the raven haired beauty even she has to sacrificed her life as well to protect Mei. It will take a lot more to separate them because when you love someone, you will do anything for them because that was what true love means. It was never been an end, because everyday is a start of something new for Yuzu and Mei Aihara.
