Chapter 4 : Setting Sail

Tinsley, Nathan and I headed into the town to get some ingredients for the meals we would have to prepare. Captain Jager had told us it would be a whole days journey and that we may not make it until sunrise the next morning, if we were lucky enough to survive the waters that contained mermaids. Though thinking about how badly this could end I have to admit the thought of seeing mermaids was so cool.

“Tin have you ever heard any lore about mermaids?” I asked.

“ I’ve heard they sing a song that only men can hear,” she said “ supposedly men fall victim to the mermaids because the song is so mesmerizing they fall in love and climb over board to be with the mermaids.”

I looked at Nate worried for his safety. He flashes me a smirk. “What’s the matter baby, you afraid Ill fall hopelessly in love and jump over board for a new woman?” He says while wiggling his eyebrows.

I shake my head in return and look at the  ground smiling. If it were not for stupid mate bonds I could definitely see something happening between us. In the grocery store we gather supplies mostly meats and vegetables  I figured there was a possibility I could just make a large soup and feed it through out the day, I even buy some bread for dipping. After reboarding the boat its around evening. Captain Jager announces that it is time for us to set sail. Tinsley and I prepared the soup for the crew and managed to get the ship clean. Tinsley decides to turn in for the night I however go to a secluded part the bow of the ship to be alone with my thoughts. Most of the crew has retired for the night with the exception of the captain and first mate. I’ve waited so many years for this to be able to go out into the world and though there were hiccups along the way I survived granted with the help of my friends.

“penny for your thoughts ”Nate comes and puts his arm around me &  placing a kiss on my temple.

“ I am just so excited”

“Me too, honestly I cant wait to see some mermaid t**s” Nat laughs

I slap him on the chest “eww Nate, did you really have to go there.”

“damn girl I need to see something, I don’t see you offering me anything”

With that said I remember our night under the water fall and how I wanted to experience that with him. I wish that I  could go back in time and not stop him. I am look aimlessy out at the water. I am quickly flipped around and Nate’s lips crash on to mine. I wrap my hands around his neck. He responds by pushing  his fingers into my hair and grabbing a fist full and pulling gently. My back make contact with the railing of the ship. Nate still kissing me hungrily.  I can feel my wolf wanting me to stop but I will not break the contact my human side of me  is enjoying. Nate begins to push up my shirt along with my bra. His hands massage my breasts taking time to twirl his fingers around my n*****s. He breaks away from our kiss to place kisses down the side of my neck. A moan escapes my lips earning a low growl from Nate. He grabs my body and pulls me tight against his chest and bites my bottom lip wanting entrance which I grant him. I can feel his erection through both of our clothes. I reach my hand down to unbuckle his pants and stroke him. Nate moans in response to my action. “ Give it a kiss” He says while breathing heavily. I lower my self down to my knees, looking up into Nates eyes I lick the tip of his member; slowly swirling my tongue around the circumference. “ Goddess Amira” Nate moans with his head tilted back. I take this opportunity to slide him down to the back of my throat moving slowly back and forth. Nate begins to shake  and I increase my speed making his body tense up and countless moans escaping his mouth. Nate grabs my hands in order to stand me up and then bends me over the side of railing lowering my leggings enough to grant him access.

 “ Baby you’re so wet” he bends to whisper in my ear. He rubs his c**k up and down my slit until he slowly pushes in. He pauses for a moment to allow me to adjust to his size. Then he begins to pull my hips into him and push me out. “ You feel so good” I manage to get out with a small moan. Nate lays his hand in the center of my back thrusting him self in and out increasing speed with each thrust. I start to yell his name but he covers my mouth to muffle my voice. With one last hard thrust we both begin to quiver as we find our release. I can feel my wolfs discontent for what I did, she always wanted us to wait on our mate. She doesn’t seem to think that there was always the possibility of

“ Nate” I say in between breaths “That was amazing”.

“Just imagine baby I could please you whenever you like, if you let me”  Nate grins at me.

We are both sitting down on the deck, I move to sit on his lap and place a kiss on his lips. I can feel Nate smiling against my lips. He breaks away from our kiss and places his forehead on mine. We are staring deeply into one another’s eyes. Off in the distance there is song being sung. It is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. There seems to be movement in the bottom of the ship as the crew ascends the stairs from the bunkers. I quickly get off Nate trying to avoid Tinsley seeing us like this. Nate looks at me confused. When I see Tinsley quickly approaching.

“ What’s happening” She asks. “ One minute everyones asleep the next everyone is running around trying to get to the top.” Then her eyes widen in shock. As she hears the song being sung.

“ All men cover your ears and do not listen to the sirens” Captain Jager yells from the  helm of the ship.

“Nate get away from the rails” Tinsley screaches.

Both her and I begin to push him to the center of the ship in hopes that it would be a safer spot.

“ I need one of the women to come up here and help me steer. “ The captain requests.

“ Well heres to my dream of being a pirate” Tinsley winks at me as she walks up to the helm. “Protect him Amira, if anything happens I will never forgive you. “

“I hate that our first time is followed by this” Nate mind links me.

“It makes it quite the story to tell, don’t cha think”  I respond.

“Oh yes definitely something to tell the grandkids about”  He says smiling.

The boat begins to violently shake  like the boat has crashed into something. The singing grows louder and closer.  All the men have become silent even Nathan is just string out to the waters. I start to walk over to the rails so I can see what is going on but Nate uncovers one of his ears to grab my hand. But then he drops it and begins walking towards the rails himself. I try to grab him but he pushes me to the ground with a deep growl. Honestly he is scaring me at this moment. I grab his feet causing him to trip and fall to the ground. “Tin Nate uncovered his ears, hes fighting me trying to go over board”  I scream through our mind link.

“Just hold him we are almost clear”  She responds.

Nate begins to push me off, it’s not like it would be a huge struggle for him. He is a much bigger a stronger  wolf person. “Nate stop”  I try to reach him through our link but he has a wall up. I spot a large oar and I run to hit him in the head hoping one hit will knock him out. THUD!  Nate stops moving towards the water and instead turns to me looking ready to kill. His body starts shaking you can tell he is seconds away from shifting. His face contorts into a snarl, and in that second I believe he will kill me if I give him the opportunity. Only armed with an oar I prepare my self to shift if I need to. Nate takes a step towards me, his bones begin shifting under the skin. “Nate please don’t do this” I yell to him. He shakes his head and for a brief moment I thought I had reached him but it was short lived. He jumps at me shifting in mid-air.  I fall back surprised, I rarely ever trained with other warrior so I’ve never been put in a position like this. I flail the oar around hoping to connect with him to buy time to shift into my wolf.

“ Amira shift! Defend yourself. We are almost in the clear”  Tinsley says through the link.

Nate lunges at me again. WHACK!! I am able to make contact enough to stun him momentarily. I take my chance to shift and Nora takes over.

Nora’s POV.

I’ve ran with Nates wolf Dax many times before, we have  always gotten along. Now he stands before me in a trance ready to rip my head off to allow him self to succumb the sirens below. Maybe if Dax had even a small amount of control this would end. I snarl at him hoping that the Alpha blood that runs through my veins will exert a force to make him cease. It appears that I have no effect. Dax lunges at me and I am left without a choice. I move right before impact and bite his leg tearing his leg in the process. He yelps in pain and I adjust my position ready bracing myself for  another attack.  

Splash, Plop. I snap my head around to see what the source of that sound is. It’s a siren it took me a while to notice but the singing had stopped.

“Shift” the creature commands.

I growl in response refusing to take orders.

“If you want your friend to live you will shift”

Amira’s POV

Nora releases her control of my body allowing me to come back. Since my shift was rather sudden I am left standing naked in front of the crew and this creature, I do not allow my self to show my embarrassment. The creature standing before me does not look how Disney portrayed mermaids.  The skin is teal blue with green spots there is an absence nose but slits in place of where the nose would be, there are gills on each side of the neck, and their eyes are black but have a purple sheen to them. The only parts that Disney seemed to get right, was the fact that fins replaced legs and they have arms.

“How can I stop this from happening?” I ask the creature trying my best to sound dominate

“We have awaited your arrival for many years,” She begins “ The creatures of this forest will welcome you with open arms, but we can not allow humans to step foot on our territory”

“What makes me so special?” I ask c*****g my eyebrow

“I can not give you the answer to your question, only after you enter the palace will your destiny make its self known.”

“you can not just drop some prophetic s**t on me and not give me any other answers” I snap back.

Tinsley has made her way down to where we are standing and gives me robe to cover myself. “if the humans can not enter your territory how are we supposed to get there ? “ Tinsley asks with her hand on her hip.

“We control all the creatures of the sea we can have one of them carry you across the rest of the way.” The siren answers.

“If that is what we must do can you ensure to us that this crew and ship will be allowed to sail back unharmed?” I ask.

She nods in response.

“We will go your way, summon your creature and release your hold on my friend.” I state

Nate falls to the deck shifting back into his human body, he is unconscious but breathing normally.

“ Why is he not awake” Tinsley practically yells.

“If some one tries to fight the effects of our song their body will waste their energy.” The siren replied.

“Allow us to speak with the captain and gather our belongings” I say.

“  I shall give you until the sun reaches the sky.” She replies. Then hops back overboard into the water.

“WOW! I don’t even know what to say” Tinsley says releasing a breath I didn’t know she was holding.

“ We will discuss it once everything is settled. Right now you need to try and wake up Nathan, while I go and talk to the captain. We don’t have long until dawn.

I make may way to the helm. “ Cap’t Jager” I call out “ Im not sure how much of that you actually heard, but you and your crew have been granted safe passage back”

“As soon as you step foot off this ship, You can bet your ass cheeks we will be turning around and heading back to port smith.” The captain said chuckling a little “ That was enough of an adventure to last me the rest of the week.

I laugh as I look down to the deck and see that Nate is sitting up now. “If I could ask one more favor captain, in the event some one looks for us can you steer them in the opposite direction?” I say before walking off.  The captain responds with a nod.

I returned to Nate and Tin, we gathered what little belonging we had and awaited what ever creature the siren would summon for us. Part of me had hoped it would be a really cool kraken or something that you would only dream of existing but as the creature emerged from the water it became very clear to us we were going to be riding on a whale.  Even though this is probably the coolest thing that will ever happen to me I am slightly disappointed in the fact that it wasn’t a more mystical creature. We all three climb over the railing to take a seat on top of this beastie and begin our ride to the shores of a dense forest that from a distance looked eerie but alluring at the same time.
