Chapter Sixty-Three The low sound of a TV, somewhere off to the right, filters into my muddled thoughts but it is the loud snoring which has taken me away from my slumber. I open my eyes and see a curtain blocking rays of sunlight coming in from my left. I am in a bed and there is a short, fat, bald man—a priest judging by his clothes—sitting on a chair by my bed, his head resting against the wall. My mouth feels like it is a dry rag in the middle of the desert. My whole body aches. I have to pee but I see that I am hooked to an IV. An IV? I blink and realize I am in a hospital bed. Why would I be in a hospital? My baby! But just then my baby kicks me, telling me that apart from everything else, my most precious treasure is fine. A sigh of relief escapes my lips.
