The Misterious Room

Just when Keysia was turning the key on the door of the room, she suddenly felt a large and cold hand touch her shoulder. Keysia’s heart seemed to have stopped beating, her blood flow seemed to be blocked, her eyes were wide open, her breath was held, as well as her hand movements which seemed to have stopped time. In Keysia’s mind, various bad thoughts had appeared, she even thought that this time it would really be the end of her life. “Who is this? Could it be that this is the ghost who guards this room, or this person is a robber,” Keysia said to herself. There is no other way to find out other than to turn around, Keysia is ready to scream as loud as she can to call her father, after all in this house she is not alone, her father will definitely come to help her soon. Keysia dared to turn her head, she slowly turned her head slightly to see whose hand was now perched on her shoulder. When Keysia turned her head she immediately shouted without wanting to see the person. “Aaaah…!” Keysia screamed as loud as she could while covering her eyes with both hands. “Hey, Key. This is Daddy,” said Bram, chuckling when he saw his daughter’s face which was already pale. “Daddy?” Keysia asked to make sure but she didn’t dare to lower her hand yet. “Yes, this is Daddy, honey. You are easy to tease,” said Bram as he lowered his daughter’s hand. “Ah, Daddy. That’s not funny! You know, I almost had a heart attack because I was scared.” Keysia snorted in disgust while putting on a sullen face. Instead of feeling guilty, Bram actually chuckled while shaking his head. “Ugh, why are you even laughing.” Keysia is getting sullen. “Yes, yes, honey. I’m sorry. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw your cute face,” said Bram as he hugged his only child. “But Daddy, how long have you been here?” Keysia asked with a frown. “It’s been quite a while, I was here to check on you because you’ve been here too long, I thought I was afraid something might happen to you, so I made sure to come here. Eh, but I saw you sneaking around here instead put your ear to the door, be an ignorant soul, I’m called,” answered Bram with a witty smile without a hint of guilt. “Father is ignorant, he already knows his child is scared,” Keysia grumbled. At that time, Shinta came rushing because she was worried when she heard Keysia’s screams. “What is this?” asked Sita, her face was very worried. “It’s nothing, Mom. We’re just joking,” said Bram. “But Daddy joked too much,” said Keysia. Bram chuckled, “What are you doing here? You said you wanted to go to the bathroom, why did you come here?” asked Bram. “Yes, Key. Why you are here?” Shinta also asked, but her focus shifted when she saw a key perched on the door of the strange room. “That’s the key…” Shinta pointed at the key, but Bram grabbed the key as soon as Shinta showed it, then he put the key in his pocket. Bram’s face immediately changed, he looked very nervous as if he was hiding something. “Didn’t you say that the key was lost somewhere? Then what is it?” asked Sita inquiringly. “Oh this … This key was lost before, but … last night I just found it,” answered Bram a little stammered. “Does that mean you’re already in there?” asked Shinta again, like a detective who is interrogating the perpetrator. “Yeah, I did go in there just to check and it was true that I thought it was very dusty inside, besides that there were a lot of rats as big as fists and I don’t know what other creatures were in there. So I think it’s better that you don’t go inside, let me keep this key,” said Bram. Shinta looked at Bram with a questioning look, her heart didn’t believe everything Bram just said. “It seems I really have to prove myself what exactly he is hiding in here,” thought Shinta. “Key, so what brings you here?” Shinta’s question turned to Keysia. Keysia didn’t answer right away, she was thinking whether to ask her father and mother or not. But because of such strong curiosity, she finally told the truth. “Earlier when I was about to go to the bathroom, I heard a woman’s voice crying, according to what I heard, the voice came from inside here,” said Keysia. “What? A female voice crying?” Shinta exclaimed with a very surprised face. Netra Bram also opened a little wider, his views were so difficult for Keysia to interpret. But the girl thought maybe her father was just as surprised. “Really? Are you sure, Key?” asked Bram. “Yes, Dad, Mom. I’m one hundred percent sure the voice came from inside this room,” Keysia answered with complete confidence. “Could it be…,” Bram hung his sentence and managed to make Keysia even more curious. “Could it be what, Dad?” Keysia asked, the hairs on her neck getting shriveled. He thought that his father must know something. “Could it be… han-tuu…,” Bram purposely said limply so that his son would be even more scared. “Are you serious? I think so too. Has Daddy ever seen a ghost here?” Keysia asked in a half whisper so the ghost wouldn’t hear. His face is now very serious with lines full of fear. “Never,” answered Bram. “Where are the ghosts? As long as I’m alive, I’ve never seen a ghost,” said Shinta. She was sure that there might be ghosts, but it felt strange if there were ghosts in this house. Sita’s little heart said that what her son heard was not a ghost voice. While Keysia easily believed, she widened even more, “Where have you seen a ghost?” “That’s the ghost standing in front of me right now,” said Bram casually while pointing at Keysia and was immediately followed by his own laughter. “Ah, Daddy. That’s not funny, I’ve been very serious about listening to it,” Keysia mumbled the samba in her anger. “You are kids these days but still believe in superstitions,” Bram teased in between laughs. “I’m serious, Daddy!” exclaimed Keysia. “Key, the ghost does exist, but he will never disturb us if we don’t interfere,” Shinta chimed in. “Then where is the sound of crying now? I think, I haven’t heard any sound since then? You’re probably just hallucinating, Key.” “That’s why Daddy is quiet first, his voice won’t be heard if Daddy laughs like that because his voice is small.” Keysia still insists on her opinion. “Okay, here I am,” Bram complied with his daughter’s request to shut up. Bram, Shinta and Keysia again put their ears wide open hoping to hear something, but a few seconds had passed, there was no sound other than the sound of raindrops which had started to subside. In fact, Keysia hoped that the crying voice would be heard again so that her father could believe that what he had just heard was true, not just a hallucination. “Where, Key? I didn’t hear anything, did I, Mom?” said Bram. Shinta nodded, “Yeah, I didn’t hear it either.” “Yes, indeed I also don’t hear anything now, but I’m not lying, Dad. Before there were Daddy and Mommy, the voice was still heard,” said Keysia, trying to convince her father. Bram could only shrug, he is indeed a person who is not too fond of mystical things like that. Unlike Shinta, she knows very well how her child is. Keysia cannot lie or just make up stories. From the look in her eyes, Shinta could tell that Keysia had really heard a woman’s cry from inside. “Maybe it’s the neighbor’s voice. Don’t think too much about it. We’d better continue eating cake, after all you said you wanted to pee, right?” Bram didn’t seem to want to bother, he immediately took the key stuck on the door. “Yeah, but Dad…” Keysia’s words were immediately cut off by Bram. “Don’t like to scare yourself,” said Bram as he walked away. Seeing that her father was about to leave, Keysia’s heart seemed to be still stuck and there were many things she really wanted to ask about the room. “Mom, but I’m not lying,” Keysia pleaded for a defense. “I believe in you, but for now it’s better if we continue the event earlier. Let it be Mother’s business,” replied Shinta. Bram stopped his steps and turned his head slightly, a smile that was very difficult to interpret was on the corner of Bram’s lips, “Don’t make me angry. Neither you nor Keysia are allowed to enter the room. I told you not to want to know about the room. After all, I’ve already answered those questions, haven’t I?” said Bram with great emphasis as he walked away. “But why? With your attitude like that, it makes me even more curious,” said Shinta in her heart. The room had no windows, it was always dark inside because it was never lit, and Bram took the key to the room. There’s really no way to get in there. But Sita is determined, sooner or later she will unravel the mystery about the room. Then they returned to continue the event by eating cake together and forgetting all the events earlier.
