“Your sister doesn’t hold back, does she?” Lucas asked, turning to Maya. “No, she doesn’t. My sister never was one for subtlety. I’m guessing that’s why you like her so much?” Maya replied. Lucas and Maya shared a glance. His eyes questioned how she knew. Her eyes answered with a simple ‘who wouldn’t.’ “Did you see that? They thought I was a ghost. Boo, booo!” Kaya exclaimed. Lucas’ lips still buzzed from Kaya’s unexpected kiss. He couldn’t help but feel giddy when Kaya approached him, brimming with the cheerful optimism that had taken him. Maya closed her eyes and entered her mind’s eye again. “What do you see?” Lucas asked. “It appears that Bartas and the others have made it up to their side of the wall. Dorian’s group seems to have made it as well, but I can’t see Julius anywhere.”
