14 A Brief Respite
Julius soared through the sky toward the majestic mountains in the distance while the others tended to Kara. Dorian peered into the vast landscape below. He recognized the terrain. Julius tilted forward to begin his descent into the Loxx mountains. The cloudy weather unexpectedly transformed from lightly whipping morning winds to heavy snow in a matter of moments. A chilling wind whistled as they rocketed toward a patch of flat, white rock near the mountain’s summit. Julius braced his sturdy legs, flapping his wings to slow his descent. Julius bowed his head after touchdown, waiting for his passengers to vacate his back.
“Take Kara to Rin in the cave, quickly,” he commanded.
