FourAccording to Other-kin lore, the City was strong and vibrant thousands, perhaps millions, of years before humans inhabited the planet. The City's fall came during the Purge, the time when the angels came and slaughtered the ancestors. It was always suspected, but never proven, that the purpose of the forced extinction was to clear the earth for humans.
In an attempt to save civilization from total annihilation, the City, along with four others, was intentionally buried, hidden underground. The stories varied on how this was accomplished. One version told of ten powerful mages who chanted for forty days and forty nights to raise enough power to accomplish the deed.
