She laughed. “Flatterer. The offer is open, should you change your mind.” She gestured to one of her courtiers. “Share a drink with me?” Kai inclined his head in agreement. “Of course. A whiskey will be fine.” The courtier scurried off and quickly returned with whiskey for him and a glass of wine for Risha. She raised her glass. “To those who have gone before.” “And to those who will come after.” He finished the traditional toast, and they drank. She lowered her glass to look at him intently, “I mean no disrespect,” she put her glass down, “but you are, um…” “Surprisingly well-mannered for someone who was raised by a savage?” He laughed at her shock at his candidness and then waved it away. “No offense taken. My master wasn't such a savage after all.” The crinkles of worry dissolved
