Raine's POV
After Desmond left, I began to think about our plan. My father would be returning tomorrow, which meant that my mom and Alpha Matthias would try to make the most of today.
I went to down to the kitchen, to get myself a cup of coffee. Coincidentally, I found Alpha Matthias there, and he was just leaving. But he stopped when he saw me.
As usual, anxiety tightened my nerves. This man had been harassing me for years with no one to defend me. I was scared of him. I never truly defended myself against him. The last time I tried to defend myself, I killed someone and the guilt had shaped my entire life since then. So I always try to walk away instead.
But today I stood, still scared as hell. But he was a werewolf, even an Alpha. I wouldn't kill him easily.
