CHAPTER ONE (1)

My eyes opened slowly, staring at the white ceiling, I yawned and turned feeling the soft fabrics below me. The aroma of freshly toasted bread and sardine filled my nostrils, I sighed and quickly sat up. I placed my left hand on my stomach, my whole body was filled with lots of energy as toast bread and sardine were one of my favourite breakfast. My eyes scrutinised my room and I sighed loudly, my body were beginning to ache, today is the beginning of a new session. I sighed loudly again and slowly got out of bed. “I am so not ready for this session" I said softly, like someone would hear me. I walked to my mirror which stood close to my wardrobe. Humming softly to an imaginary tone in my head, I lifted my night wear and examined my stomach. I breathed in heavy and admired that perfect flat stomach of every girl wish. My stomach soon went back to it's normal size when I breathed out. “Just a little more to get to my goal" Turning around and checking out my ass, I stretched my shorts a bit to make my buttocks more visible. My thoughts suddenly got clouded by Temi. I closed my eyes in an attempt to forget that thought, but instead more memories flooded my mind. I could feel that tightness in my chest. My foot moved closer to the mirror and I examined myself more. “I lack nothing" My eyebrows knitted and I hissed. The sound echoed in my room. “Preshy warned me. Yoruba boys are bad news, Na me no hear" “ESOSA!!!!" My Mom pulled me out of my thoughts. My brain and body began to work immediately. I ran towards the bathroom, grabbing my towel from the wardrobe door. I dashed into the bathroom and closed the door in slow motion. I wouldn't want Mom to hear me closing the door. I quickly turned on the tap and watched the red bucket fill up with water. I sighed in relief. I escaped this one. I heard the door of my room open and close almost immediately. I knew it was Mum, she probably heard the running water and concluded that I was taking my bath. I breathed out as I think of how to look good and presentable today. “Temi must know that Esosa does not care and she's a strong lady. No time for emotional break downs". After what felt like an eternity of a long and comforting bath, I walked out of the bathroom with my blue towel loosely wrapped around my body. My eyes met the brown wall clock and I discovered that it was 6:42am. "Being too early for school is a disease" I reached for my body cream, I wanted to go late to school but Mum won't permit such. I quickly dressed for school, and checked myself in the mirror. I had a brown skirt on, just a bit above my knees, my white shirt and brown suit jacket, brown tie neatly knotted, black socks and black shoes. I unbuttoned two button on my shirt. "A girl has to look sexy small. I'm 17 so...." My voice was a bit loud like someone was disapproving my style. I grabbed my Grey school bag and rushed to the living room. I met Mum already dressed for work, she looked so beautiful as usual, with her red gown and black bag on her hand. She had her hair braided and wore flats. I've never seen her on heels except wedges. She always complains that she can't walk on heels. Dad worked at Ogun state, he got an apartment there to avoid wasting time and energy on transportation from Lagos. I understand him though, imagine battling with Lagos traffic every morning and end up being scolded for signing in late at work. "Your breakfast is in the kitchen. Prepare rice for dinner" Mum said immediately she saw me. "Mommy, Good morning" I greeted calmly with a smile in a way of teasing her to calm down a bit since the supermarket isn't running away. She hissed and laughed "Esosa abeg, I'm going already. Don't forget to prepare dinner and after school, come back home straight!" I mean, she didn't have to emphasise on the “straight". A typical Nigerian Mom. "Alright, I will" "I'm going....." She said almost out of breath as she took her lunch bag from the centre table “....Lock everywhere before you leave including the windows" She didn't wait for my response, she opened the door and left, while I closed the door for her. Today is going to be a long day. How do I face Temi, who is now my ex?. The whole school knew us, we were the perfect match but he f****d up. My face grew hot when I remembered Clara. "Ashawo!" I almost spat out.. I've been talking to myself lately "Two faced b***h! Fake friend" I kept cussing as I made my way to the kitchen. My phone rang and I checked the caller ID "Preshy" I muttered and answered the call. "How far na" Preshy voice came from the other end. "I'm coming to school" I said over the phone and sighed as I looked at the toast salivating already. "Thank God oh, I thought you will skip school because of Temi and Clara" "Me? When I'm not mad or stupid. I don't care about those two I swear. They can f**k around with each other, it's not my business" "You've started again" Prechy laughed "I know you're having two thoughts about coming to school today and it's because of Temi. Stop deceiving yourself" "Na you sabi. I'm coming sha. Did you call Benita?" "Yes, she's coming. Alright now, just wanted to check on you " "Bye" She ended the call and I sighed "Today is going to be the worst day ever. This is not a good way to start ss2"
