Chapter 14: Shame

1535 Words
Amid the windy railing, Freddy wondered what had happened to him. Some miracle had happened to make him stop acting foolishly that he was so willing to do with any other girl before. For the first time in his life, he felt hesitant and able to think for someone other than himself. Freddy was surprised when he discovered that he was so deeply immersed in a relationship that only started two days ago that everything was messed up, his own principles, the default rhythms of everyday life. All of his were messed up by her. Freddy sighed to himself, until he knew he loved her, his love for her was so great that he couldn't control himself anymore. It seemed that every time he was near Katherine or thinking about her, Freddy had to reason with himself. Freddy leaned back against the railing, he only wrapped the towel loosely around his waist, his firm chest still covered with drops of water, his muscles tensed as he endured the cold wind blowing from outside. He wanted his body temperature to drop quickly so that he could sleep peacefully. Freddy smoked a cigarette, and the fire was quickly extinguished. Freddy was so tired of himself, he didn't understand what he really needed to do in the end. Like other young men, Freddy also has his own fears and is always tormented by them. Today, they can be companions again. That is his conflicting feelings about not daring to cross the safe limit for Katherine but unable to suppress the desire to be with him. Miss. Freddy sighed as he looked up at the sky as black as the darkness in his lap. He remained dazed, lost in thoughts about Katherine Manson. He had foolishly thought that he would not be able to fall in love in such a lonely position. But life is inherently tantalizing. He can control his work well, control his daily schedule well, but how can he control his heart? Freddy was repeatedly scolded by Lance because he was often lost in patchwork relationships, bringing more needs for physical satisfaction than true emotions. But how could Freddy find his life's destiny in just a moment, even if he no longer believes in that beautiful love believed. He extinguished it and went back into the room, closing the door tightly. The next morning, Katherine Manson woke up with a slight headache. She finds herself at Freddy's house and really can't remember anything that happened yesterday. Katherine felt pretty bad about herself when she got so drunk on her first date that she had to stay at Freddy's house. Katherine quickly went to the bathroom to shower. Suddenly, Katherine noticed red bruises all over her body, even the wound on her lower lip. Everything terrified her because she couldn't remember what happened yesterday. She feared that the two of them had ignited the stage, but she still felt a little bit like she had done these things herself. Conflicting thoughts overlapped and she didn't know how to react when she had to meet Freddy soon. After taking a shower, Katherine tried to cover her whole body with her coat that had been sitting on the chair by her bed ever since. Katherine shyly imagines everyone staring at her as she walks out of Freddy's house. The two accidentally bumped into each other. Katherine laughed heartily at Freddy: “I'm really sorry about last night. I must have bothered you a lot. Because I was so drunk that I don't even remember what happened." "It's okay. Luckily, I brought you back to my house. Now eat breakfast and I'll take you home." Freddy looked a little embarrassedly at Katherine Manson. "Why are your eyelids torn?" Katherine Manson's gaze drifted over Freddy's face. Suddenly detecting an abnormality, she quickly inquired. Her sharp eyes made Freddy a little timid, hesitant. “Last night I accidentally hit the side of the cupboard.” Freddy, avoiding Katherine's gaze, quickly lowered his head. Katherine Manson saw this and did not ask questions anymore, but just turned to look blankly at Freddy's small house and then smiled, her face full of hope. The conversation ended quickly. After that, Katherine Manson sneaked out the door, intending to get into Freddy's car quickly. He also smiled when he saw her. The two were a bit awkward at Katherine's strange behavior. The overwhelming silence made Freddy uncomfortable and mistakenly thought that Katherine had found out what had happened last night. “Do you know why my eyelids are torn?” Freddy turned to look at Katherine Manson, deliberately brought his face to Katherine Manson's, and put his index finger on his torn eyelid. Katherine hastily backed away, she pushed Freddy back slightly, frowning in annoyance, sensing that there was something strange about Freddy: “How would I know? Didn't you bump into the closet?" Freddy breathed a sigh of relief. Freddy spoke casually, deliberately probing Katherine Manson's expression, but she remained calm as if nothing had happened: "Ah, there is actually a man who is drunk and forgets all over the world. When he brought it home, that person scratched his face again. Luckily, I have insurance for this handsome face.” "Oh my God!" Katherine gasped. Freddy squirmed, looking like a child, screaming in the car. Katherine laughed at Freddy's actions. But he still wouldn't stop, just looking annoyed. She stared at Freddy's exaggerated reaction, she frowned, trying to suppress her smile as she sat next to him. Katherine Manson thought for a moment in surprise as she faced Freddy, pointing at herself: “Besides… what else can I do?” “I guess I'll give it a try. Or do you want me to take off all my clothes and show you, then you will believe me?" Freddy raised his eyebrows to look at her, in his heart showing satisfaction, so he deliberately teased her. "Oh man! I'm sorry! But my lips are also torn. I can't remember anything. I even got…” Katherine Manson said shyly. She didn't expect herself to lose control when she was drunk. She remembered the marks on her body, feeling both shivers and anger at the thought of how drunk she was. Although Freddy never admitted this, Katherine assumed that she was the most obnoxious drunken worm in the world. “My lips, how do you know? What else is wrong with me?" Freddy smiled mischievously, turned to stare at Katherine, causing her to uncomfortably turn her face away. Katherine suddenly saw that Freddy's face was a little wicked. She immediately thought of things in a different direction. There was no evidence, but based on the expression, she was sure Freddy was also someone involved in what happened last night. Katherine Manson clenched her fists trying to hold back her anger. Katherine Manson clearly realized that Freddy was trying to make things difficult for her, but in the current situation she could hardly respond. "Isn't it all right?" Katherine interrupted Freddy's words, pretending to focus her attention on the side streets, ignoring him as he rambled on and on in the car. Katherine's phone ringing interrupted their confused conversation. She saw the phone screen showing Kenny's contact number. Katherine didn't answer the phone, shoving it back into her bag despite the loud ringing of the bell. Freddy pretends not to care, but actually he wants to see who is calling Katherine but she is not listening in front of him. Freddy's mind continued to speculate about some mysterious person. "What's wrong, Kenny?" Katherine became quite shy when answering the phone. Kenny on the other hand, was quite puzzled by Katherine's indifference right now. From last night until now, she has not picked up the phone and the whole family is so worried that they almost reported her missing to the police. “Why don't you answer the phone? Do you know the whole family is crazy about you? Tell me, what did you do with Freddy last night?" Kenny was so focused on the matter that Katherine didn't have time to react. Yesterday, when John Devoilt took him home, Kenny was too embarrassed to set foot out of the room until Macken and Lily dragged him outside and questioned Katherine. Kenny had no choice but to protest by saying that Katherine went on a date with her boyfriend. Kenny's information is like a stream of water to Macken and Lily after months of hoping, praying, and waiting for Katherine to have a really good relationship. “Is something wrong? I'm good at taking care of silly things." Katherine replied coldly, despite being a little embarrassed. She didn't know where Kenny got the inspiration to ask her this question. Honestly, if she were to ask Katherine to answer honestly, she wouldn't be able to come up with a perfect answer. Kenny's voice was suddenly so loud that it made Freddy next to him smile as well: "Is it okay? I see you're hiding delicious food, right? There's a handsome guy next to him who pretends to be you. Hey, don't let it later, you know, I'll die with you. But hurry up and go home. Dad's worried about this."
