Chapter 11: Double dating

"Yesterday, taking advantage of the family's absence, didn't you organize the premiere of the movie Cinderella which was proposed by the Handsome Prince here? Your good story has already been returned to Twitter by a few old ladies in the neighborhood." Lily was carefree, eating and drinking, laughing and talking, losing all the usual standards of politeness in the family. Kenny surreptitiously laughed like an i***t, while Macken munched his food, his eyes full of fear. Katherine hastily explained everything to the family, she said: "God, everyone misunderstood. Someone has indeed come here, but only to confess, not to propose. And right now, the two of them are merely getting to know each other."

"Dad never forbids anything, you are an adult. But my nature is never picky, too permissive. I don't know how I will bring home a weird, weird jerk?" Mr. Macken looked at Katherine Manson coldly, then turned back to Kenny and Lily with a smirk. The three of them burst into laughter at Macken's words, and it was only at this point that Katherine realized that she had been tricked by them. She sighed as she looked at the three of them and then said, "I'm really regretting the rash decision I made yesterday."

Lily suddenly spoke up: "Are you regretting it? Do you think this should be left to the other guy? Wouldn't you accept to be a lonely old woman?"

Before Katherine could answer Lily's questions, she turned to look at Macken: "Just now Dad said it was like Katherine had brought back some weird, weird guy before. I'm also curious to know what your ex-boyfriends look like."

Macken's face turned gray, he glared at Lily and said, "What's wrong?"

Katherine's eyes suddenly darkened, her face turning strangely melancholy. Even though she did not understand what was happening, a headache ran through her brain, causing her to feel a strange pain. Katherine dropped her cutlery on the table. Immediately, Macken and Kenny ran to her side. Kenny hurriedly took medicine for Katherine to drink and then the two of them helped her into the room to rest. Lily was the one who was most worried right now. This was the first time she'd seen Katherine like this. The little girl followed Macken and Kenny, but they both told her not to bother her. It took almost ten minutes before Katherine felt much better. Macken and Kenny looked at each other, and both immediately noticed the difference in Katherine's mood. He asked him whether he was too harsh and harsh on her. Kenny looked at Macken in surprise and then fell silent, saying that the family should take care of Katherine more. He didn't want her to be dependent on medication. Lily stood still outside the door of Katherine's room, peering fearfully inside.

Katherine lay languidly in her room, blaming herself for not being healthy enough to affect the family's evening. Katherine sighed suddenly, she thought that sudden headaches like this would never happen again like before. The next morning, because Katherine couldn't make it to the restaurant, Macken took her place as head chef, leaving Kenny at home to take care of her. Although Katherine tried to refuse, Macken was so persistent with his decision that she dared not say another word. The whole morning passed slowly like a small hourglass. Katherine was so bored that every time she finished one movie, she quickly switched to another, but not a single one had been watched for more than fifteen minutes. Kenny was taking care of Katherine like she was taking care of a baby. This made her feel extremely happy to be nagging Kenny.

The phone rang suddenly, Kenny glanced at it, it was the phone of John Devoilt - the owner of Baby Pop butcher shop. He answered the phone when he heard John's cheerful, excited voice at the other end of the line: "Hey Kenny, do you remember you still owe me or not?"

"What do you want?" Kenny answered in an annoyed voice that caught Katherine's attention. He is rarely rude to others, in the eyes of Katherine and everyone else, Kenny is really a very understanding person and knows how to make a good impression.

At Kenny's side, he still talked to John in a hostile voice, but he continued to enjoy talking to him incessantly: "I think it's time for you to pay my debts. How about a double date? Me and my friend, you and Katherine. That's what you should do. Well… we'll meet at three. Of course, at nine I'll drop you two home."

John Devoilt didn't need to wait for Kenny to agree and quickly turned off the phone. Kenny was furious, but he dared not say anything for fear that Katherine would find out. It all started when Katherine went to the VIP area to dump the leftovers on the plate on Freddy's body. Kenny was so scared that he wanted to break his honey. He hurriedly stood in front of the restaurant and grabbed John Devoilt's arm as he left with Freddy's group. Kenny begged him repeatedly to help, say a few words to calm Freddy's anger, not to let him put everything in the press. And so, Kenny suddenly owes John a favor that he didn't expect. He asked him to come to his double date. The most special thing is that Katherine must appear before he agrees.

"John forced me to invite you to his silly double date. I don't want to go at all. But I already owe him a favor. What should I do?" Kenny was full of worry, his expression making Katherine both amusing and eye-catching. He was stupid enough to be led by John Devoilt, but anyway, his actions were motivated by his love for Katherine and his appreciation for the Home Sweet Home restaurant. Never had a tough girl like Katherine ever accepted such a silly proposal so easily. Katherine laughed, making Kenny feel too strange so he realized that since Freddy came to confess to her, she was gradually transforming into a completely different person: "It's just a date, not a date. What do you have to be so afraid of?"

"But you also know I'm not interested in women at all. I'm afraid the girl John leads will get hurt." Kenny talked like she wanted to cry. His words silenced Katherine. She emphasized to Kenny: "Then just say you don't want to go."

"I don't want to break my promise to him. Do you know how annoying he is?" Kenny sighed and sighed, looking at his sad expression. Katherine couldn't bear to leave him right now. Katherine looked out the window and felt she should pamper Kenny more. This younger brother of hers is much less naughty and obnoxious than Lily anyway: "I'll go with you. Katherine and Kenny quickly changed clothes to prepare. Unlike other girls her age, Katherine has a rather outdated standard of fashion and she always prioritizes convenience first. The two drove to the address John Devoilt had sent. Kenny repeatedly pressed the gas pedal but ended up being late. The rendezvous point was a Chinese-style restaurant that Katherine had eaten once. Kenny and Katherine followed the flight attendant's instructions and went straight to the VIP area, where two boys were sitting. One was very leisurely, and the other was extremely worried and excited. Kenny and Katherine looked closely and immediately discovered that it was John and a rather strange but still extremely handsome guy. As soon as Katherine sat down, the young man with an annoyed expression raised his voice to reproach. He looked at her and then repeatedly expressed his displeasure: "Are you Katherine? Did you know it was fifteen minutes late? I told her, please don't be late next time. If you don't want to come, you should tell me and not waste each other's time like that."

"We also texted that it was due to a traffic jam. Sorry if you feel uncomfortable." Kenny growled, his eyes flashing like a spark. He glared at that obnoxious name repeatedly. The feelings like Katherine and Kenny right now just want to punch him in the head. Neither of them had ever met such a lousy man. Katherine put on a charming smile, put her hand gently tucked a strand of hair over her ear: "We're going on a date today, if you don't like it, just leave. I wouldn't mind."

"I'm John Devoilt, and this is Chadad Monte. You can both call him Chad." John tried to relieve the heavy feeling by introducing himself even though Kenny and Katherine had known him for a long time.
