JASON
I was never a man who worried much about life. I let it take it's course. But not with Hazel. She is my life line.
About twenty three years ago, I met her.
My first true love.
She walked in through the door. Her quiet but bright smile caught my eyes.
“Hi everyone I am Hazel Morgan, am new here hope to get along well with you guys” she said proudly. She was loud and wanted to make friends with everyone. She was loud enough to be seen by anyone.
We became friends the second Day. After I accidentally tore her notebook when I almost slipped on the floor. She said she'll forgive me if we became friends, which she did.
Since then we became best friends. But I wanted something more. I thought it was just my thoughts but no it wasn't, after she left for her senior year in Italy after her parents divorced, with her mother and came back home after unvery, I fully realized it was love.
She had grown into a something I hardly resist everyday.
Hazel was beautiful. She dressed too modestly. Though she has learned about the world and it's mask, she still trusted that fool, she had to learn the hard way.
I was going to propose to her after I got back from abroad, but she got engaged to that scum.
I was late.maybe we weren't meant to be together I thought. I wished them well. I was happy for her or so I thought.
But I hated it. When he held her like she was his, the way she looked at him like he was her world, the way he kissed her.
I lied. I was not happy. I was miserable. My chest hurts whenever I see them together.
So I left. So I wouldn't be the one to destroy the happiness she has found.
After I heard about what he did, I was furious but secretly happy.
And now she was here, with me. She took the ring. She said yes. She wrecked my world without knowing she was doing it.
She is mine now, and I won't let anyone take her away from me again.
I held her waist and drew her closer. Showing everyone around that she belonged to me.
The media. Damon. Everyone present. And if anyone dared to lay a finger on her I wouldn't hesitate to kill them.
After the gala I drove her home, we didn't talk so I knew something was wrong.
“Hey.” her called her attention softly. She turned her head from the window and looked at me for a long moment.
“Thank you” she said “For doing this with me and am terribly sorry for dragging you into my mess.” she said quietly.
Her heart broke. Again. Not because she thanked me but because she still thinks am doing this as her best friend.
I forced a smile and held her hands, not taking my eyes off the road to avoid looking at her. “I'll do anything for you Mrs Jason.”
She chuckled at my words. “You never know when to say a joke.” She said laughing.
I joke. That was it. I truly am pathetic.
“At least you laughed.” I said trying to hide my hurt.
We reached her hotel I dropped her. She invited me in but I refused.
“I have a lot of work to handle” I said because I was not sure of what I might do if I followed her inside. “We'll be meeting the press by 9 o'clock tomorrow morning, Eat something before coming.” I said before driving off.
Morning came faster than I expected it to be.
My phone kept buzzing with calls from the company shareholders and friends everyone wanted to confirm if what they saw was true. I didn't pick any.
I got dressed and went straight to the the hall, where the press was waiting.
There she was. She walked through the door proudly. Head held high, shoulder straight. She walked with grace.
She was always like that, the kind of woman who looked like she does not know what she does to a room.
Her cought mine and she smiled and walked towards me. Her soft smile melted me. I forgot how to breathe for a moment. I stood there trying to figure out how to to exhale.
“Good morning, Fiencè.” She giggled with a hint of mockery.
There goes again, reminding me of my place. I smiled back at her and led her into the hall.
Two days went by the same way. Held a lot of meetings, visited a lot of places and had meetings with the press all together with Hazel by my side.
Sometimes she would smile at me. While other times she'll be in a daze. “Hey,is everything alright?” I asked her before we meet with the shareholders at noon. She smiled and said everything was alright.
I enjoyed the fact that I spent two whole days with her by my side but something started to feel different it was like
she pushing me away. Drawing a line.
Trying to remind me of where I belonged.
