ALARA: The scorching sun beat down relentlessly, intensifying the already oppressive heat. Sweat trickled down my forehead as I strolled through the palace halls, my mind wandering through random and whimsical thoughts. "Couldn't today be one of those wind-whispered days, with the sun coyly hiding behind clouds, and dew drizzling down like gentle droplets? But no, today is a day for trials, as if God decided to test me in all possible ways. A cloud above me, perhaps, like Olaf, please," I mused aloud, my inner monologue meandering through the quirks of my mind. Amidst my contemplation, a collision interrupted my thoughts, snapping me back to reality. Apparently, I hadn't run headlong into a wall, but rather into an exceptionally handsome man. Dressed impeccably in a suit, he exuded an air of affluence. I glared at him after the initial surprise, then, without waiting for acknowledgment, turned on my heel and continued my march. "Let me be honest, he was quite tall, probably unable to see me. But I will never admit it," I thought with a huff, maintaining my dignified stride. My internal dialogue was abruptly cut short when I overheard Maddison's familiar voice. Not eager to be noticed by her, I decided to steer clear. However, a summons from my mother disrupted my escape. "Alara, will you please meet me in my office?" she beckoned, her stern gaze leaving me little choice. Aiden, standing in the hall, and Maddison gawking at him, were inconsequential as I reluctantly followed my mother. In the office, she introduced me to Alexander, the man who would accompany me to the Imprisoned City. But before my journey, the mysterious bond linking me to Aiden needed breaking. As my mother issued the command, Aiden entered the room, appearing sulky. However, the lack of the usual electric buzz and emotion confirmed the bond's dissolution. I let go of his hand, and the tapestry of emotions shattered. Aiden, on the other hand, was reeling. "No, no, no," echoed in his head, a cacophony of confusion and regret. "How the hell is that possible?" I heard my mother swear, while I smirked and remarked, "Well, we have someone who beats magic." The realization struck Aiden, a painful truth he had unwittingly unearthed. The bond, once considered unbreakable, lay shattered. "Was I kidn*pped just for this?" I questioned my mother, who maintained her act with remarkable poise. She acknowledged the reality of someone or something stronger than the bond. As I stormed out, Maddison smirked, reveling in the perceived victory. The carriage awaited me in the garden, and I stepped inside, soon joined by Alexander. Avoiding sentimental goodbyes, I stared out of the window, indifferent to the people waving. "The ride to the Imprisoned City takes two days. We will stop for the night at a place," Alexander informed me, and I questioned the absence of portals. "You are the first witch the Imprisoned City will see after ages. I am sure portals weren't a convenient source of travel for us," he explained with a snort that even sounded captivating. The carriage ride to the Imprisoned City was quiet, the clatter of hooves and the occasional creak of the carriage providing the only audible company. As the night settled, I found myself lost in thoughts, replaying the events that led to the startling revelation of the broken bond. Alexander, sensing the weight of the silence, decided to share some insight into the intricacies of the magical world. "Bonds like the one you had with Aiden are rare and powerful. They are forged through shared experiences, emotions, and the essence of the individuals involved. To break such a bond, there must be something equally potent, perhaps even stronger, to override its magic." His words lingered in the air as I contemplated the implications. What force could be more robust than the magic binding Aiden and me together? Especially, when it was my father, the king who had bonded us by the blood bond. The answer eluded me, and with it, a sense of unease settled in the pit of my stomach. The carriage rumbled to a stop as we reached a quaint resting place for the night. Alexander extended a hand, helping me disembark. The night air was cool, carrying a scent of earth and a touch of mystery. We walked towards the inn, where a simple but warm room awaited. As I lay in bed, the events of the day played in my mind like a haunting melody. The shattered bond with Aiden left an unexpected void, a silence that echoed in my soul. Sleep was elusive, and my mind was a swirl of conflicting emotions. The next morning, Alexander guided me back to the carriage, and we resumed our journey to the Imprisoned City. The anticipation of the unknown, coupled with the ache of the broken bond, created a unique blend of tension within me. Days passed, and the landscape outside transformed from lush greenery to the haunting beauty of the Imprisoned City. The towering walls held an air of both foreboding and intrigue. The people, the Muhlak, had stories woven into the very fabric of their existence, stories that I was meant to unravel. As we entered the city, eyes scrutinized me, gauging the impact of my arrival. The Muhlak, divided into the Malik and the Baghi, observed with a mix of curiosity and suspicion. My mother's deal with their leaders seemed to have momentarily quelled their rebellion, but the undercurrent of tension lingered. I was led to a meeting with the city's commanders, a rendezvous meant to familiarize me with their intentions and the delicate balance of power. The broken bond with Aiden served as a constant reminder of the enigmatic forces at play, both within the magical realm and the human heart. Amid political discussions and cultural revelations, a figure from the shadows emerged—a cloaked individual with piercing eyes that seemed to penetrate my very soul. A whispered prophecy echoed through the air, cryptic words that hinted at destinies entwined and choices to be made. As I navigated the complexities of the Imprisoned City, the broken bond with Aiden became a symbol of change, a catalyst for unforeseen alliances and unforeseen challenges. Little did I know that the threads of fate were being woven into a tapestry that would shape not only my destiny but the fate of the magical realm itself.
