Unwrapping The Throne

CHAPTER TWO

Driving in and from Sea Grits New Jersey to any other state for Jave has always been with company; either with his siblings or with Marcus but never alone, so in the solitude of his car, with nothing left with him to do, he was left to the confines of his own thoughts and he could help but wonder what his life would be like now if his parents acts of destruction and selfishness had not taken his twin Alvin away from him. He blamed everything the universe owns for the death of his twin and though, he had grown from the pain, the dream he was living now was supposed to be their dream, they were supposed to be involved in boxing tournaments together, study engineering together, catering for their siblings together and also move to New York city together but life dealt him a cold hand of fate when he lost his brother and best friend to acute stomach ulcer at the age of 16.

Growing up as a Throne in their neighborhood meant the nice neighbors befriending them in order to give them food and the moment their parents started noticing this, they moved them from one neighborhood to the other to avoid them being a charity case but the joke was always on them as every neighborhood they ever lived within a week discovered their cruel act towards their children and lent helping hands whenever they could. One thing the parents- Betty and Benedict were good for was clothing the kids because what better way to cover your tracks than cloth the scars.

Laughing to himself on his two hours’ drive down to New York, Jave prayed his past did not catch up to bite him in the behind and hoped for a better start with no drama. All he wanted now was keep his scholarship rolling and also keep his wins rolling in, more wins meant more money and what better way to prepare for his court case against his parents than to make substantial money enough to take his siblings away from them and to take care of them.

'The eagle has landed, over and out.'

This short and precise message to Bliss meant Jave's drive was smooth and he needed his nap. So walking her way into Marcus house with Louis on her tail, she was going to learn how to defend herself and Louis from the Benedict Thrones wrath.

Bliss was certain her brother Jave had been the reason she and Louis had not yet really being on the anger radar and since he was not with them anymore, she was willing to like Alvin had always said wreck some violence in their face, a phrase Javice detested so much since he hates violence, some sort of irony though since he became a professional boxer at the age of 16.

'Girl, snap out of your f*****g dream and start running your laps. Louis, lets watch how she falls on the fifth lap together with some snacks.'

With a really fierce determination, one that would surprise Marcus and her snarky brother who she could hear whispering some snide comments to Marcus about her, Bliss got on the treadmill and set her timer for twenty minutes but she could not help but prove them right when eight minutes in, she ran out of the machine and unto the floor gasping for breath like a dog. She did not even have to look up to see the smug looks on their faces, all she could murmur was 'I am allergic to exercise' and this made them laugh at her more.

'Bliss the Bli, I wont teach you how to fight if you can't keep your stamina up' was all Marcus replied her with before getting her side of the table and assuring her to always be there whenever she needs him.

'Even when I am on my period?' Bliss asked already knowing he would flip out.

'Jeez, don't even play with me you i***t, I don't care about your period' Marcus replied.

'Are you saying you care less about my vulnerability during my period because if that is it, I am so telling J you don't care about me?' Intentionally putting on a sulking face, Louis slapped her pouty mouth back in and this earned a laugh from everybody.

'What a drama queen you are Bli' was all Louis said while shaking his head at her thinking to himself; I already miss Javice.

'If I order you pizza and give you 50 bucks, will you still tell your brother?' asked Marcus

'I won't if you make that 100 bucks' replied Bliss

'Girl, what you need 100 bucks for, some lipstick or tampon sticks?' questioned Marcus

'I don't need to tell you what for, just know the moment I tell Jave, he'll have your ass and you'll wish you just gave me the money' Bliss confidently said.

Weighing his options, Bliss further said to Marcus 'You have the money anyway, spend it and with', so much profanities and grumble, he pulled out two 50 dollar bills from his pocket and handed it over to the excited teen.

'Thanks bro, now I can finally get my nails done, and its not tampon stick you i***t, its just tampon' said Bliss, knowing Javice is really against her getting her nails done, Marcus snatched the money from her and ended her excitement.

'No nails till you're 40' he barked out while high fiving Louis.

'I'll tell Jave you said you don't care about me' then she argued in hopes of getting the money back but with a laugh and I don't care from Marcus, she stormed out the gym.

Laughing at her attitude, Marcus proceeded to the gyms punching bag, thinking to himself, now I can't let him down, I always have to protect them whenever. Just like Louis was reading his mind, he asked

'Marcus, do you even have another life outside of us?' taking back by the question though, Marcus answered jokingly.

'Of course yes you gorilla, I have so many chicks trooping in here day and night'

'I'm talking serious Marcus, are we in any way holding you back or something, like are you in community college cause of us?' Louis probed

'No man, you're too young for all these psychic questions and no, I love the life I have in you guys, okay? Now go order some pizza while I finish up here' Marcus commanded.

'Okay' and with that Louis left Marcus thinking damn, that boy too smart and sneaky for his age while it registered in his mind he actually meant what he said, he loves those kids like his own siblings.
