THE NEW GIRL

--- The grand gates of Moonridge Academy groaned open, revealing a world that looked more like a palace than a school. Towering spires pierced the sky, ivy clung to stone walls like whispered secrets, and an odd silence blanketed everything—eerie, expectant. Seventeen-year-old Mira Vale stepped through the gates, gripping the strap of her worn canvas bag. Her shoes crunched gravel as she walked the winding path toward the East Wing, heart thudding against her ribs like it wanted to escape. They said Moonridge was for the elite. For the heirs. For the wolves. I don’t belong here. I’m just the help. A stern woman in a black apron—Head Servant Dalia—met her at the steps with a sharp gaze and zero warmth. "You're late," Dalia barked. "You’re assigned to the East Wing. The Storm family. Don’t embarrass us." Mira’s pulse spiked. Everyone knew the Storms. Wealthy. Private. Dangerous. Inside, the halls were quiet and cold, lined with oil paintings and the scent of cedar. She paused in front of the grandest door—black wood with a silver crest: a wolf beneath a crescent moon. Before she could knock, the door swung open. Elias Storm. Tall. Icy-eyed. Expression like stone. "You’re the new help?" His voice was low, almost bored. Mira nodded, barely breathing. "Then stay out of my way." He turned and shut the door in her face. Welcome to Moonridge Academy. ---
